Hello! I am a student a graduate University of Illinois Chicago. I am subletting my bedroom for May or June-mid August this Summer, so I am looking for a female student/young professional to move in May/June - mid August. We would like someone who is clean. The apartment is located in the University Village/Little Italy and UIC East/West Campus area. It is one block North of Taylor Street. The blue line Racine stop is a 5 minute walk from the apartment as well as the 7, 157, 12, and many other buses go directly downtown to the loop. I am less than a 10 minute walk from UIC Hospital, Rush, UIC East/West Campus, Cook county hospital, and the veterans hospital. Taylor Street is a 1 minute walk away and has a variety of different restaurants, bars, and shops. We are a 1 minute walk to Starbucks :)
It is a second floor unit and has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. Central AC in every room. The kitchen has a dishwasher. My bedroom is a large loft above the living room. It is up a spiral staircase. There is a platform area for general storage prior to entering the bedroom. The bedroom DOES have a door. There is a brand new queen bed, large corner desk with a chair, mini fridge, futon, coffee table, 32 inch flat screen, dvd player, nightstand, mirror, and plenty of clothes storage. All of these items will remain the room for your use. I'll clear all off my things so that you could move yours in. Your other two roommates for the summer will be 2 females. One is getting her master's degree in nutrition at the University of Illinois at Chicago and the other is completing her residency at Rush after recently completing her PhD in medical physics at Harvard. They are 27 and 28.
Rent for the room is $633.33 per month. Total rent for the apartment is $1900 so we split that evenly between the 3 bedrooms. Utilities typically run between $80-120 per person. I'm the primary TV watcher, so there may or may not be cable while I'm gone. That's a decision the other girls will make. But there will definitely be internet. Despite the utility costs, our monthly apartment costs are some of the most affordable that I've heard of in this location. Laundry is next door in the basement of a twin unit to ours. It is quarter operated and is either $1-1.25 for use. There are two washers and two dryers. They are divided between about 15 people living in our compound area. My roommates and I have rarely had issues with washer/dryer availability. There is additional storage in that basement area for random large items for people in the compound. It is also temperature controlled, so it will be cool in the summer. You will be given a key for access. The units surround a cute courtyard with a tree. There is a view from my bedroom window.
Grocery stores in the immediate area include Target, Mariano's, Jewel, and 2 WholeFoods stores. Whole Foods and Trader Joe's are about a 10 minute bus ride or train ride. Please contact me at if you have any questions or would like to view the apartment. I hope to find someone within the next 2 weeks. Please see the pictures below! They include pictures of the apartment and my bedroom. I am also posting an ad on the UIC housing system website and Craigslist :)
