DO NOT MOVE HERE. I have been here 6 months and there have been 4 different apt managers, each one worse then the last. The new people that moved in above us are so loud they wake me up at 1 to 3 am and from 8am to 10am doing god knows what stomping around. The advice from the managers...just wear earplugs when you are home...good solution. The people that live next door are obviously drug dealers and I hear them beating their 2 yr old all of the time..I have called the police and the managers, yet the complaint is ignored. WORST PLACE EVER!!!! and this is the first time i have ever posted an apt review.
Onsite managers last 3-9 months before being fired/decide to leave. In general maintenance requests take a while to be looked at and most of the time it takes 2-3 maintenance requests before stuff actually gets fixed. Rent is less here than other apartmnets nearby but once you live here you will figure out why. Laundry room is filthy and machines not kept in good repair. Neighbors tend to be inconsiderate. Highly reccomend living in one of the other apartment complexes in the area instead of this slum.
Sunset Station is an older apartment community. The apartments are very large. They are very close to the Sunset Transit Center. Great park like setting. I read the other reviews and wonder why somebody would review if they lived here two years ago! Maybe they got evicted. Mold issues? Mold is international. Try using some elbow grease and bleach water. Which place in Portland has no mold? This place is as good as it gets in apartment living.
Lived here for almost two years not because it was great but rather because it was close to the MAX and was affordable. While we lived there (2008-2010), the place went through 3-4 different managers which was ridiculous with all the different rule changes (one person was going to charge to pick up cigarettes, another to pick up dog poop, etc. etc.) There was no consistency! Plus, our storage unit got broken into because the "free" storage units are only separated via chicken wire. Then the current management wants to start charging people for those crappy places! Unbelievable! When we moved out that hole had STILL not been repaired ... even though all of our valuables had already been taken. Also, there was an issue with repairs being performed. We also had a problem with SERIOUS mold growth. Don't believe the current Norris-Stevens owner in his polo shirt, either. MOLD GROWTH IN THOSE QUANTITIES IS NOT NORMAL. Besides the one place the mold DIDN'T grow was the bathroom, go figure. One of the managers was price gauging to fill the apartments which led to lots of issues with rent pricing. The downstairs people have to deal with listening to their upstairs neighbors constantly due to wafer-thin floor boards. By all means, DON'T live here, It's super crappy. The one saving grace is it's close by the Sunset Transit Center, but even that isn't worth all the other headaches.
As far as apartments go, this one appears to have it all: a pool, spacious units, walk-in closets, great location. However, after living here for a year I have to say the biggest downside is the WALLS FULL OF TOXIC BLACK MOLD. When I first noticed the growths on my walls I called the building manager; I was told to wash the walls monthly with bleach. That's it. Maintenance in this place is nonexistent and the property owners could care less that it's a health hazard to live here. They did, however, raise my rent to pay for the "maintenance."
