n 1926, the Santa Fe Railway constructed a series of four buildings that were connected by underground railroad tunnels built to centralize the railroad's transfer and warehouse operations. While allowing the transfer operations to remain in the heart of the city, the underground tunnels removed the surface tracks that plagued downtown traffic. This building was one of the warehouses and was located across Jackson Street from the main office building. It served as the complex's Garment Center. The University Club was located in the penthouse and it was used by the Dallas elite to wine and dine. After the University Club closed, WFAA Radio used the penthouse for their studios. Today, the old sign on top of the building has been restored. The warehouse matches the Santa Fe Building with buff brick and cast stone trim. The warehouse was one of the first buildings in downtown Dallas to be renovated into loft apartments and in 2004, the building became condominiums. PRICES $1200-$2000

My daughter has stayed there over the summer during an internship and it has been a great experience staying there. The apartments are very custom, high quality. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We love it so much we don't want to leave. I would highly recommend or live there. Beautiful pool area and well kept.

I have been living in Third Rail Lofts for over six months now. The location is great, so close to everything, walking distance to the dart and all the restaurants in the area. The management is really good and the maintenance team are great. I love the view from my apartment at night.

I've lived here for 2 1/2 years, in the Gulf States building. Great location, very pretty apartments, nice amenities. The staff always goes above and beyond to take care of residents. Some of the best things about living here - 1) pretty view when sitting at the pool looking East, 2) bowling alley, wine room and movie theater are special, and easy to reserve, 3) concierge, maintenance, and leasing staff are all friendly and quick to respond, 4) upper 2 reserved parking levels for residents are secure, quiet, and clean, 5) black polished concrete floors and stainless steel appliances in Gulf States are pretty, and 6) the building/grounds are well-maintained. If you're looking in the downtown area, it's worth your time to walk the property.

Fantastic location right in the middle of downtown Dallas. I love the new management and how they are handling all the concerns and issues from the previous one. I have been living there for a year and I just renewed my lease. I went and looked at almost all the other properties in downtown but I couldn't find one that has the same amenities: wine lounge room, movie theatre and of course the bowling alley... As a resident of TRL I have to say that it is the safest and the cleanest property in downtown for me and my daughter

The negative reviews do not reflect where I've lived the last 2.5 years. Management and staff have been extremely responsive to maintenance needs, and cleaning staff is top-notch. Elevators can be frustrating at times, but I've experienced that with countless other places. Overall, I've enjoyed my time here. If they offered a three-bedroom at 1407 I would most definitely stay. The changes to downtown Dallas in the last 2 years have been great, and only make a stronger case for living here. I needed to terminate my lease early, and Leslie and staff have worked hard to ensure my apartment is leased with minimum financial downside. Overall, my experience at Third Rail Lofts has been nothing short of great, and I'll be sad to leave.
