I moved here a year ago thinking it was going to be temporary until I found a house to buy. Now, I can't imagine leaving. Everything is so great, I am totally unmotivated to move again. This is the best apartment community I have ever experienced. It is quiet, well built and well maintained. It is family owned and the staff all go above and beyond. Any maintenance issue is resolved within minutes or hours at the most. The set up us well designed with plenty of parking right in front of your front door. There is a peaceful nature trail around the property which is great for walking my dog. The back deck is the biggest deck I've ever seen with an apartment and so peaceful. If you can find an available unit, I highly recommend!

You can buy good neighbors, and for less than the "new" apartments. With all the new apartments going up within 10 miles or so I can give you a few of the reasons I prefer Dewberry Downs as a place to live over any of them: 1. Location - not just the general area but the specific location gives you fast access to multiple exits of I-65 (4 exits within ten minutes and two of those within four minutes) and easy access to Hwy 31 and 459. You have many ways to get home and many other places without sitting in traffic. 2. Parking- Plentiful and convenient. I almost never had a parking issue. Seriously. I can't recall having to park more than 20 steps from my front door. 3. Community- There is a reason people don't move away often and many of those move back. Trouble doesn't stick around long even if it finds it's way there. It is NOT run by a huge company or management agency. The owner is there almost every day and the management lives there. They are reasonable and pleasant and there is a genuine old world feel to not only how the management operates but also how neighbors interact. If I had to choose one word to describe it that word would be: PLEASANT. 4. Your own space! The units were built to residential town home standards with firewall separation all the way up and great noise barrier between. That means you don't have to feel like you "live with" your neighbors because they live next to you and there is no one above or below you to drive you crazy either! Of course they don't have a workout complex on site or an MTV spring break sized swimming pool but there is no need with low cost membership available to you at the Hoover Rec. If you don't think you care about the things I listed (there are more) give it time; you too will want to live in a place like Dewberry Downs. They are truly one of a kind in a way that makes them the one Oasis in a desert full of mirages.

18 months ago, I was referred to Dewberry Downs by a co-worker. Living there has been an absolute pleasure. It is spacious, affordable, and centrally located to Hoover and Birmingham. While I was skeptical about living in a split-level town home, it was the best decision I've made. The community is beautiful, and the staff have been nothing but helpful. Since moving in, I have had issues with my air conditioning and my upstairs bathtub leaking. Both were resolved quickly and professionally. While the apartments aren't brand new, they are well-maintained by management who has an investment in the community. I can't recommend them highly enough. A+++!

Do not move here! 1: Maintenance is the worst. It takes forever to get something fixed. When you ask to have something looked at, they barge into the apartment anythime the feel, even when you don't answer the door. They are rude, messy, and don't clean up after themselves. They did something outside of our house one day and there's still a garden hose sitting under our padio. This was 7 months ago!! The roof leaked when we moved in and had maintenance done on it twice, it was not fixed. All the roofs in the complex were replaced soon after, and it still leaks! There are water stains all over the upstairs ceiling. The hardware on the front door was replaced on all the doors in the complex yet we still have a hole in the door from when they were supposed to put a screw in it. 2: No pest control! For several nights I thouht I was having dreams that there was something crawling on me when I slept, acctually there was. There were roaches crawling on me at night. It is very rare that we have a night when we don't have some kind of bug crawling up the walls or on the floor. Centipedes are poisonous and roaches carry deseases and bacteria. We shouldn't have bugs and roaches in our house as often as we do. Every problem we have had with our house we have notified to front office at least twice and either we never got a response, or someone barged in unannounced and half assed fixed it. I have hated living here and happy to be moving!!

These townhomes were built around 1978 so they do have certain things that havent been updated yet such as windows and sliding glass doors that allow the cold air to leak in in the winter. However, for the most part, everything else has been updated and looks great. The biggest thing for me was when I checked the police reports and realized how safe this community was. When I sit on my back deck it is so quiet that I feel like I am in the country. I have told everyone I know about this community.
