Have lived here 8-9 months, and have been pleased thus far. I did have an issue with a very strong cigarette odor at first in my apartment. The smell was coming from a neighbors apartment, found that it was seeping through a little wooden access panel in the front closet.. taped the edges off and the smell is gone. Have had only two minor maintenance requests and they've come out promptly and fixed it right the first time. Overall a great place to live, especially if you can get one of their rent specials. Very peaceful for such a large complex.
DO NOT MOVE TO PEBBLE CREEK. It is the worst apartment complex I have ever lived in. For starters, we moved from out of town and were not allowed to see the apartment when we initially rented until all of the paperwork had been signed. When we actually saw the inside of this hell hole we like to call our personal "boogey nights hotel room" we tried to break the lease (yes upon walking in to them). The walls are discolored and stink from years of tenants being able to smoke in the apartments. The laundry room was literally STILL SMOKEY from the previous tenants. It was disgusting. Not only that but the rent they charge is outrageous for the lack of service you get when something goes wrong in your apartment. For example, we live on the first floor and the other day the garbage disposal line got so stopped up with water and other peoples nasty greasy garbage came up into our kitchen sinks, on to the counters, spilled over to the floor and out to the carpet. It was a greasy, chunky pink and green film all over everything from the kitchen to our "dining area". It ruined many of our personal things and it took pebble creeks maintenance an hour to get to the apartment and then they didn't clean anything after they left so we were stuck with all of the disgusting stuff everywhere and a wet stinky carpet. And that's not even the leAst of it! We can hear our upstairs neighbors every move, leash laws are not enforced (a neighbor just likes to let his dog walk around with no leash and it goes after my dog), and I'm constantly stepping in someone else's dogs shit in the grass. The toilet handles have to be held down for ten seconds to get it to flush, and our cable and internet are always getting cut off (probably because of the old decrepit wiring in these places. If you are looking for a place to live, stay away from the pebble creek thieves.
AVOID PEBBLE CREEK! FIND A BETTER APARTMENT. It's hard to know where to start: -Apts are OLD-built circa 1970? Desperately need to be redone -Staff is RUDE and completely unhelpful on so many occasions -BEWARE OF HIDDEN FEES. I'm quite sure they broke laws when I was vacating my apartment Please avoid if you can. I realize it's CHEAPER than some other places but smokers are NOT put in separate buildings and the ventilation is very bad and if you have asthma/allergies the mold/smoke will really get to you.
DO NOT LIVE HERE: Although the options around the Roanoke area are limited, please avoid HHHUNT facilities if possible. 1) First basement-level apartment was FLOODED with sewage from upstairs tenant. PC was NOT going to let us move without raising rent/repaying security deposit. Only after threatening lawsuit, did they allow us to move to another location and we still had to pay the security deposit! They were very rude about it and tried to blame us for being upset that many of our own personal items were damaged by sewage leaking through all over two of the bedrooms. 2) They will try to rip you off at every corner: many hidden fees. After cleaning immaculately according to their checklist when vacating, they sent a HUGE bill saying we hadn't vacuumed etc. I asked them to produce photos and they could not. Very clear they just wanted to squeeze more money out of us. Facilities are not nice: gym is very old and equipment from the 1980s. The price may SEEM reasonable, but they do not maintain the facilities well and will rip you off! This apartment has been there since the 1970s and are BEGGING to be updated. Old carpets, counter tops, wiring, etc. And avoid basement level apartments. Old, modly, and repainted every time to look newer. Also, the ventilation is bad so if anyone in the apartment smokes, the stench permeates all the apartments.
I just moved in. What a nightmare. The paperwork takes 30-45 minutes to fill out and sign. Then the apartment I was assigned happened to be across the hall from a couple of smokers. Not just casual smokers, smokers who smoke so much the apartment (my apartment) was smoky from smoke seeping into it! It smelled like an ashtray. I had to threaten a lawsuit to get them to change my apartment. Once I brought the checks and deposits they told me to bring (in one check) then they said, "No, we need separate checks," so I did that only to learn I had OVER PAID and now had a $250+ balance they would not (said they could not) return, but would be happy to use for future rent. I paid my October rent ONE MONTH IN ADVANCE, because I was going to be out of the country. Ta Da! I get back from Africa only to find tags on my door saying I owe them back rent, even though I paid my FULL RENT AND HAD A BALANCE!!!! Then they said I owed them $96 for an electric bill even though I had the electric transferred into MY name the day I moved in. Pebble Creek is the most screwed up management I have EVER encountered. I don't know how they got the reputation they have, unless they bought it, but do NOT move in here!!! After much back and forth, lo and behold THEY admitted THEY MADE a mistake and charged me the WRONG rent. I did NOT owe them a dime. However, in all the maneurvering my balance disappeared. The utility company changed the name on the account to mine, then turned it off again. When cold weather came the heat didn't work. Yes, they fixed it, but only the next day since it "wasn't an emergency." All three fire detectors failed at once. I could not get them to shut off for 30 minutes. I had to remove all of them from their hard wired connections. They replaced them the next day. ADDITION: I went out to the parking lot to find someone had used the trunk of my car as a loading dock, leaving dents and scratches in the hood, making it look like it had been in a hail storm. Thanks careless residents. Add a domestic violence of the neighbors - lots of screaming, banging and violence - even though there's a cop in the building. STILL cannot get the toilet clean. There's a layer of brown silt from the dirt in the water that leaves the bowl filthy even after bleaching it. So if the water looks like that in the toilet bowl, wonder what's in the drinking water? Same pipes. So, add bottled water to your budget. There's been one fire - ARSON, is what one of the maintenance men told me. Joy. Do YOU want to live in a place where people deliberately set things on fire, have no respect for your car (drive around the parking lots. i did. Dozens upon dozens of cars have big dents, scratches etc.) fight, and scream. I won't even go into the noise levels. This is a very kid friendly place - lots of happy, screaming, playing on the stairs kids. Sigh. CAN NOT wait to move. Would move sooner, but the 50-page contract protects them more than me. BEWARE!!!
