My friend and myself stayed here overnight after attending the Neon Run at Albert Park Lake. We were really impressed with the ground lobby when we walked in, but when we got to the room we were met with stained carpets, a power point that was coming out of the wall, and leaking sink pipes in the bathroom. The bar and cafe were well decorated and the staff were very friendly. The buffet breakfast was somewhat pricey ($25 a person) but the food was nice and the staff very attentive. Overall, our stay was average. We got a cheap deal ($100 for two people) which included 2 for 1 breakfast, but the level of detail we would expect if we were to pay the full rate was not there at all. Would not go back, especially when we can stay at the Sofitel down the road, pay an extra $200 a night and be assured that the level of detail expected would be there.

The room rates are spot on for the rooms which are clean and well fitted but tired. This is a hotel approaching the end of life for this fit out. What is poor is the food quality for its price. Twice now I have ordered room service and received food which was over cooked or of questionable freshness. The buffet breakfast is also on a budget with the selection slightly sadder than compatible properties. That would be ok if the price matched it, but I view it's on the higher side.

I am currently here at the hotel, have been here one day, and hate it. This hotel is discussing. Everything is old, there are spots on the floors, dirt on the walls, chips on every wall and they do not care about the hotel. Looking out my window I can see the original part of the hotel's roof and it has miss matched tiles, some are missing and others have shifted. I made this note because in the pool room right above the middle of the pool is a very large hole about 2 feet across cut to release water. In addition the pool is freezing. It is a lap pool so the temperatures are generally lower to swim laps but I just came from another hotel that had a lap pool, I swim back home and have swam in many pools ... this one is cold, real cold. After an hour swim I need to come to my room and get a hot shower then climb into bed with all the covers to recoup my heat. Also, in the pool room is the old workout room. It is currently off limits as it has its carpet pulled up for what looks like water problems. The hotel, being ever so smart decided to move the workout machines to the top of the building where the hot tub is. Instead of swimming today I decided to run on a treadmill. You have to hike the stairs to go above the 7th floor. Inside they have the hot tub I mentioned that has poorly patched holes. In fact one of the large 4-5 inch holes in the hot tub was not patched while you could see right through the whole and the water had to be running below to somewhere. The weights and machines are rusted including the row machine, weight machine, and stair climber. The treadmill I used had hard water stains, rubbed buttons and some gunk I could not tell what it was. As I ran the whole level I was on shook. The shower in my room has mildew in each of its grout areas and there is a large rusting crack in the tub near the drain. As I step into the tub to shower it creaks and groans as though it is too old to handle me... and I'm 6'1" and only way 173 lbs. I stay in a lot of hotels for business. I have been traveling for years now and I can tell you this is one of the worst, cheapest and messiest hotels I have stayed at. To their credit the staff seem friendly. They don't seem to display that they care about you; they are only talking with you because it is their job...but they are friendly.
