Eric H: Guests of the Destin Army Recreation Area have access to a private beach, reserved for use by military personnel, located less than three miles from the resort (which is on Choctawhatchee Bay on Calhoun Ave.). They have 2- and 3- bedroom villas, 1-bedroom suites, an RV site and full-service marina where you can charter a fishing or sight-seeing tour. They also lease pontoons for that all-important trip to Crab Island!!
Eric H: The beach is still where the fun is when visiting the Emerald Coast, but there are also local and state parks in the Destin area that are the perfect spot for holding a family cookout, fishing from a pier, or launching a boat or other recreational water vehicle.

Eric H: One-stop-shop, eat, drink, people-watch, boat/harbor-watch, and get a good gander at the catches of the day off of the charter boats.

Eric Hanson: Holiday Isle, Gulf Shore Drive. You'll see it entering Destin off to your right as you go over Marler Bridge. Getting to it is difficult, but worth the work. (Holiday Isle, Gulf Shore Dr. to the very end.)
