My fiance and I lived here for 2 years in a 1 BR apartment. Being our first place together, we loved it and how all the utilities were included (well, when they actually worked). You get one free parking spot and have to pay $30/month for an extra spot, which is absolutely necessary if you have more than one car because parking is AWFUL. We have two dogs and had to pay an extra $100/month ($50 per dog), which was fine because there were so many places that didn't allow pets at all. The extra amenities were great: pool, dog park, gym, business center, etc. The utilities are all included (except cable) which is awesome, but not so much when it’s 100 degrees outside and the AC is “broken”. It was unbearable for almost a week. Snow removal is okay. After that huge snowstorm in Feb, we were basically stranded in our apartment for 4 days and had to miss work. Nobody really expected that much snow, so I can’t really say it was their fault. Rent does go up each year, so for us it got too pricey and we had to leave. Now here’s why I rated Broadmoor one star… when we were informed our lease was up, we gave the proper notification in the appropriate time frame that we would not be re-leasing. They gave us our move-out date and after asking if we need to do anything else, we were told no. So the date came, we were all moved out and we thought that was it. NOPE! We were getting calls saying we needed to turn in our keys, so we did, but were charged for all those days. Nobody told us to hand in our keys, we figured they just change the locks anyway. They also said the carpet needed to be replaced (yeah, I get it we had dogs) but then they charged us for damages and extensive cleaning? I can’t even begin to tell you the outrageous charges we were being billed for, it was ridiculous! The manager, Patti Carbone, is the most unprofessional person I've ever encountered in my life. Not only did she claim she sent us a “Move-Out Document” (which was NEVER sent to us), but she refused to return my emails and when she did was so rude and immoral! Thankfully, Michele who works in the main office and Ellen who works in the billing dept, helped drop some of the charges and set us up with a payment plan. If it weren't for them, I would have rather risked going to collections than pay that woman another dime out of my pocket. All in all, we really liked Broadmoor. The office staff (excluding Patti) and maintenance team were always friendly and willing to help. If you are thinking of moving here, I would recommend seeing Michele, she helped us through everything and was great! We just felt broadsided by those charges when we moved out, which left a very bad taste in our mouths. We now have to post-pone our wedding because our finances are all messed up. Is Broadmoor worth it? Absolutely not. But if you do decide to move here, learn from our experience! You have been warned!
Have to start off saying that apartments are very clean inside...loved the modern look and feel they have and thats the main reason i ended up renting from them in the first place since seramonte (next door) was absolutely disgusting compared to them. i have been living here for 2 years now and am thinking to stay here for as long as im in the state yes, the staff in the leasing office can sometimes be very rude (the girl who showed me around my apartment failed to recognize me the next week when i had moved in but was acting like she was my bestie during the tour), but you don't really converse with them that often so i wouldn't suggest to select just based on their attitude.... one thing i like about the apartments is that all utilities are included...yes it is expensive but think about all u can save during extreme heat/cold! maintenance staff are the BEST!...they come up immediately and always have a smile on their face no matter what the job! elevators are really bad/scary! sometimes they dont even shut...safer to use the stairs honestly....also the intercom to enter the building has been down for the past 9 months...prolly even more...so someones definitely not doing their job i agree that the walls are paper thin...i can hear the person up stairs go back and fourth in the apartment....and hear him/her slam the balcony door every night...also every time the neighbor enters her apartment i feel like shes entering mine cause there really is no soundproofing! my floor doesnt have too many students for me to have any complaints about them...but definitely find out whos living around u before u say yes to the apartment because u dont want to be stuck with drunk teenagers (who you can hear every friday and saturday night screaming outside) or even a howling dog =)
This place is honestly not worth the high rent. I had laundry stolen out of the wash and dryer, the neighbors are loud and there is often terrible smells in the hallways, there was vomit in the stairwell and on the first floor of the building, the mailboxes are never locked allowing open access to mail by anyone. The staff seems unconcerned by these issues.
i lived here for about a year - i had an apartment with my sister. i moved out because i just couldnt stand the noise but she stayed the length of our lease. the walls are PAPER THIN. we could literally hear the person's oven beeping in the apartment next to ours. we had a deck off of our living room which was NOT sturdy enough to enjoy. there are designating parking spots and the management office double booked my spot. i argued with the girl who had my spot daily. i had her towed a few times, she had me towed....we finally just came to the conclusion that who ever got there first wins the spot - we never paid a tow fee because we were both able to show wheelers that we owned that spot but whatever - SO ANNOYING. management never fixed the issue. let see, what else.... the laundry rooms smell horrible. the trash shoots are convenient, but it smells like they only haul the trash out of there once a month. when you walk into the complex, the smell of rotting trash smacks you right in the face. the elevators take forever. the company that blows and sands did a HORRIBLE job. i feel a bunch of times and probably should have complained but it just wasnt worth my energy. the only good thing that i can say is that the gym was handy and so was the pool, although i never stuck as much as a toe in that water. the staff was alway pleasant. they stretched the grace period for rent a few times for us, which they really didnt have to do.
I am so surprised by all of the negative reviews in regards to the staff at Broadmoor. We have lived here for over a year and they have been absolutely wonderful! Every time we have had a problem they have been very understanding and willing to work with us. The maintance staff is great too. All of our issues have been dealt with promptly.
