This place is a dump. You can't get them to fix anything. The people upstairs from me had a dog that urinated on the balcony several times. I told the mgr. and they just said they were sorry but did nothing. I always paid my rent early, and left a forwarding address for my last water bill. They sent it to the wrong address, but I still got it and they turned me into collections before the bill was even due. Due on the 1st but turned into collections 5 days after I moved out. I am fighting them now. People beware!!!!! Stay away.
i have lived here almost a year....the walls are thin, hardwood floors they are putting in pronounce sound louder so you here a lot of foot stomping, heels clacking, dog playing, thumping and dropping of items louder than normal. DO NOT LIVE ON THE FIRST FLOOR. in addition, the laundry facitlity needs to be cleaned regular; dirty floors, filthy aroud the washers and lids, etc. you pay for some services that you dont have access in the evening; not fair to those work all day and cant play pool, see the videos, computers, wii console, etc. also management needs to know that many residents do not clean up after their pets outside. apartment places should be making more effort to make apartment living more comfortable and convenient and full of ammenties for the prices that increase everytime you renew your lease. buy a home.. you get more for your money.
We have lived at alta shores for three years. The staff is great. The maintenance is awesome and quick. We have lived in both a one and two bedroom. We have nothing but great things to say. We love all the resident functions as well.
I lived at Alta Shores for a year and had a very positive experience. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who needs a clean, safe apartment in the Charleston area. It's about 18 minutes to downtown Charleston. I've rented apartments in DC where landlords and leasing companies are always out to get you and can make your life a living hell, totally not like that at Alta Shores - great staff and they're reasonable/willing to work with you. Positives: -Great location, easy access to I-26, malls, restaurants, shopping, & downtown Charleston -Clean apartments -Nice swimming pool -Plenty of parking -Front-office staff was pretty reasonable/easy to work with -Prompt response from maintenance dept. -Free wifi in the clubhouse and even a printer for residents Negatives: -We had a ongoing issue w/ palmetto bugs (aka roaches). (warning: if you've never lived in the Lowcountry/Charleston area, palmetto bugs are a normal thing, don't freak out if you see one ocassionally). However, we had several every week and would find dead ones under furniture/couch, etc. even though my boyfriend and I kept a spotless apartment. The bugs started once new neighbors moved in next door. Again, it wasn't awful or anything, just a minor inconvenience every couple weeks. When I complained to front office they had an exterminator come by at no charge to me. -The toilet handle did not work very well, had to hold it down several seconds when flushing, even after toilet was completely reconstructed -The "fitness center" was basically one working treadmill, a bowflex-like machine, and 2 exercise bikes. One of the treadmills was constantly broken, and there were no free-weights. Not a major issue b/c there's sidewalks out front and a planet fitness 5 min away that's reasonably priced. It's in a very quiet neighborhood next to medical offices and a retirement home, so if you're a young college student or party animal you should probably look downtown. I never felt unsafe or threatened.
I wouldn't suggest Alta Shores for military because you have to give 30 days notice before you move out and even if you move out before those 30 days are up you still have to pay for water, pest control, trash, and rent thought that 30 days. Also they charge everyone a $25 fee for new drip pan for the stove even if you left them clean. If you do decide to live here they wont mention that you have to pay a $75 cleaning fee when you move out too. There were just a lot of hidden fees and they nickle and dimed us. The pool was nice but it was closed a lot of the time even during the summer for several consecutive days.
