Previous reviews made me very wary of approaching the Indian Lakes Apartments. However, after having multiple interactions with their staff--namely Andrew, Brad, and Bernard--I am very happy with my decision to rent with them. I was quickly accommodated with a short-term lease. Any inquiries I had regarding the rental process, billing, utilities, parking, lease, etc., were promptly answered over e-mail and/or telephone. The apartment itself was clean when I toured it. Overall, I think they provide excellent and fast service. Furthermore, the apartment is located in a very convenient area, as other reviewers have mentioned. There is a nearby Wawa, Harris Teeter, as well as the nearby shops at KempsRiver Crossing, etc.

I think it's a nice place to live, very convenient being right behind a grocery store and all, the community was always kept very clean as well. The washer/dryer unit in my apartment was horrible and took at least 2 hours to dry a load of t-shirts, upwards from 3 hours for towels.... the management didn't do much to help me out on that, told me I could always upgrade to new appliances for an additional fee. Don't even think about turning on an automatic check draft to pay your rent, they seem to have a problem with turning it off when you move out and then an even bigger problem of not returning your money in a timely manner.

Lived here three years. A nice, quiet community. Close to shopping and a good movie theater. Good schools, safe community, not far from I-64. Could use an upgrade to kitchen and bath, that is a bit old.

If you are reading a million reviews right now, trying to figure out which apartment to go look at, and which one's to avoid - STOP. This is my advice to you, just go to apartments in the area you want to live in and match certain qualifications (for me, it was RPP because my husband is in the military.) Just see which ones give you a good vibe and which ones give you a bad first impression. I say this because when I was looking at apartments I got too caught up in all the bad reviews and I couldn't find a good apartment with no bad reviews and it made me so frusterated. I think people are more likely to get on a rating website to give a bad review to get some revenge for whatever they were put through. I think it's also good to remember that not everyone would have the same opinion. Maybe a bad experience for someone, wouldn't matter to someone else. With all that said here's my opinion... This place is good. It's a good first apartment for my husband and I. Maintenance is good, they come out when you need them. I've barely seen any bugs. I even had some trees scrapping my window at night and they had their landscapers trim the whole tree. If you EVER have a problem, management is great at helping you with anything. They are so very nice and welcoming. They are good with RPP and military families. We are in a great location... We are very close to I-64, many malls, restaurants, everything. The only problems we've had is when we moved in we had a MINOR bug issue, but we got sprayed twice and we haven't seen any after that... I think it was just because when we moved in the door was kept open a lot. I'm so glad we picked this apartment because it has been very good to us.
