This place was great for my wife and I. We moved last minute from out of state and for the cost the place is wonderful. We lived in a two bedroom. My only complaints are if you are in the apartments close to 31 it gets loud with cars and the efficiency of electric appliances and the home aren't very good. We always felt safe despite what others have said. Lock your things, keep it out of sight, common sense stuff and your fine. Maintenance was so helpful on move in, during stay, and move out. We upgraded to a house otherwise we would have stayed another year.

It's good place, clean apartments BUT not SAFE! . I just got stolen when I was overseas to get married, they stole my TV , my home theater (BOSE) and other stuff. They broke in the window and got inside my apartment located on the main street and no one knew about it even the faculty members, when my friend told them about it they didn't even say sorry or at least contact me. CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK USA TO MOVE OUT WHAT I HAVE LEFT OF MY STUFF. DON'T recommend to move in

Not safe and VERY RUDE!!! When we had our tour we were told the place was safe and never had break in's or robbery issues. WRONG. My car was vandalized several times. We had our apartment broken into SEVERAL times, the ladies at the office told us WE would have to pay for another lock on the door, and they pretty much said it wasn't their concern. Now, I have 3 kids, so that kind of reply doesn't sit well with me.Their safety is my number 1 concern. Our neighbors also had their bike and car STOLEN! The scary part is that the car was stolen and I quote the police "stolen by a mexican carrying several knives and attempted to kill someone" WOW..really want to move here still? At that moment we started looking for houses, and got a camera/security system for the apartment. People will randomly come to your patio and take things, so we had to buy locks and chains for everything! It was rare we called maintenance but when we did, we were treated like absolute crap! The dishwasher had problems and after the 2nd time of calling about it not working, they finally replaced a part that they admitted should've been replaced the FIRST TIME I called about it!! The garbage disposal has issues, even our neighbor above us told us that the motor is locked up, but yet we still somehow are blamed and were told we needed to PAY for it to be fixed. Yeah, FYI-if something is fixed more then twice, you will have to pay for it, even if it's something that wasn't working correctly in the first place! The lights in the kitchen have wiring issues, and even though they told us they would take care of it..5 months later, still not fixed. The track for the mirror closet doors are not correctly installed, so we were blamed for the door shattering when we opened it.The furnace quit working in the middle of winter, and the older guy came to fix it,messed with it for a few minutes then said this to me "Well it's quitting time, call if you still have problems" ...REALLY!? He didn't even see if he FIXED IT! Similar thing happened with the air conditioner, the other guy came to fix that, and now the stupid thing doesn't shut off automatically, he said this to me "well you can turn it on 90 and it will eventually turn off"...I was speechless and needless to say, it's still not fixed. The grounds are COVERED in nails and glass, my daughter had to be taken to the hospital and had to get stitches due to stepping on a piece of a broken beer bottle. These apartments are poorly put together, and you will get treated like you are scum. LOTS of drug dealers, very few decent people. Parking is a pain during weekends. We had random neighborhood kids that would come in our apartment. We had left our patio door open, with the screen shut, and my husband ran inside for a second and found a random kid in our kid's bedroom, twice! This place is meant for college kids..not middle-class families. So PLEASE take caution in these apartments..the ladies do NOT care about your safety, or well-being. That alone shows me they have just one thing on their mind, and that is getting your money. Not caring about your clients, is pretty bad business, and I don't care to be here for another year. And beware of the discount you will get for the first year, we found out if you renew your lease, you will end up paying what was discounted..plus some for the second year! These places are not worth your time or money! And the school systems are horrible. I have 2 autistic children, these schools were not meant for children with disabilities!

As a graduate student, Martinique was perfect. It was never too loud, there was always space to park, and you never have to travel far to get what you're looking for. The city is easy to get to, but you can head south toward Greenwood to find movie theaters, malls, and other stores. I never had to deal with management much, but on the occasions that I did, both managers I met were very polite. The apartments were redone relatively recently, so they have a very nice look to them. In addition, I have plenty of space. The icing on the cake is that the rent is fantastic. I don't think I'll ever find that much apartment (size and quality) for that little money ever again. My only complaint would be that some of the apartments closer to US-31 can be a little noisy. During the day it's fine, but I'm a light sleeper, so I need to keep the windows closed. It's not like motorcycle gangs are cruising past the windows, but the regular stream of cars can keep me up. If you can sleep with a little noise it definitely won't be a problem. In honesty, nothing about Martinique really blows you out of the water, but the simplicity and pleasantness of living there makes it an excellent choice. If I ever move back to Indy I will definitely come back to Martinique.
