Overall not a bad place to the live. The location is perfect: walking distance to West Village and all the McKinney Ave bars and clubs. Also, cheap cab rides to the AAC, downtown (if you’re not the trolley type), and Knox area. A Katy trail entrance just up Hall St. However, Post knows their location is optimal and you will pay for the convenience. The obligatory info when leaving a review:
Office Staff: Average. I never really interacted with the office staff other than to pick up packages. (Post has an online rent payment system that was quite useful). The one request I did need from the office staff was to add my name to the call box. It took a couple request to get added only to fall off the system a week or two later. This has happen a few times. I eventually gave up having my name added to the call box and just picked up my guest at the gate or crossed my fingers my guest arrive at the same time as another resident
. Maintenance Staff: Good. The few minor requests I submitted were addressed usually same day or the following day. Pool: the pool is too small for the number residents in the apartment complex. Good luck getting a chair during peak summer sun. The building’s height also makes it tricky getting a spot that has direct sunlight for most of the day.
Garage: No issues. Parking spots are easy to come by, even on late nights I wasn’t parking higher than the third level. Visitor spot can be hard to get on busy weekends. Other thoughts:
My only major complaint would be the street noise (I lived facing Hall St), even being on the fourth floor you can hear the folks coming and going to the bars, the rickety trolley cruising by, and the surprising number of motorcycles that drive down Hall St late at night. A minor complaint would be getting to and from the garage, i.e. a slow elevator ride down three levels to a brief walk across the “Kiss and Go” (which might be a quick sprint if it’s raining) to ride another slow elevator up to the fourth floor.
Things must have changed since November 2009. Living at Post Cole's Corner was the best apartment experience I have ever had. Management and Maintenance are VERY responsive - any apartment problems were fixed the day I turned in my request and issues with rowdy neighbors were addressed and handled very professionally. Any time there has been a security issue we've received notices and they have posted fliers around the building with warning. I've never had such great customer service as this from apartment management in the past. It's in a great location - right behind Primo's, Quarter Bar, and Frankie's, close to West Village, and a quick cab ride to the other end of McKinney. Anyone living in Uptown should know that it can be noisy if you live close to popular areas, so be warned that the East side of the building can be noisy, especially on Tuesday nights and weekends. I fully recommend living at Post Cole's Corner!
Leasing office management is horrible. Car break-ins are common. The only positive aspect about this apartment is the location.
