Been living there for over 2 years now, never had a problem the management didn't resolve quickly. Great location near the lake and close to downtown. No complaints.

Remington Place used to be a nice affordable place to live. I loved it at first! As others have said, the management has quickly killed ANY hope of it being nice or affordable. It is conveniently located next to Lake Johnson which is beautiful. However, it is next to I-40 (where continuous construction will begin) and the main road, Lake Dam, is closed indefinitely until the bridge can be repaired. The apartments are older and not as pretty as newer places. The counter tops, cabinets, etc vary by apartment. You could get "nicer" laminate counter tops or you could get the ones that wipe off easily (sadly, yes). Appliances are new and the stove is gas. Heat and hot water are also powered by gas. However, the insulation is horrendous so most of the heat will escape, and you'll pay a great deal to heat or cool off even the smallest of apartments. Water bills are very high too. The carpets there seem to be made from the cheapest material possible. Carpets pull away from any door threshold, entry way, etc. Be sure to wear shoes or you risk stepping on one of the many nails poking through. Management (property managers) and maintenance change often. Maintenance staff are friendly but repairs are often done as a quick fix. I've experienced mold, cracked ceilings (with water leaking in), broken appliances (leaking water heater that took 4 months to replace), etc. and the "repair" job was shoddy at best. Don't live here, unless you like overpaying for everything. If you even think about checking out this place, when you go into the bathroom, flip on the vent fan and let that sound serve as the indication of how good the repairs are there.

I lived here for five years and found it to be the best apartment living anywhere, and I've lived in many places. The staff was always friendly, attentive, understanding and just nice. The apartments are huge, (gas stove!) the grounds are very well kept, maintenance was always spot-on, and the proximity to the Lake Johnson trails and lake is a huge plus. My dog never seemed more at home here. Great place to live.

"Remington Place: Exceeding your expectations" (of doing anything right, let alone on the first try!). This place is a nightmare and will only cause you stress and problems. I moved in here because I heard someone say something nice about the place, but now I wish I had read the reviews and asked around more. They talk about being dog friendly here (which they are) but they are terrible at being people friendly, with the exception of when you hand them your rent check. Have a maintenance concern... forget about it! Have a question... falls on deaf ears. Hell, my dog is deaf and is more responsive then the management. In the short time I have been here, I have seen 3 vehicles with broken windows on separate occasions (it's been the driver side window every time). The trash compactor is back up and over flowing every time I bring trash up there... I feel bad for the people that have an apartment adjacent. Simply take my advice on this one and look somewhere else! There are plenty of better apartments in the area that are a better value (I've been looking). STAY CLEAR OF THIS PLACE!

Unlike RedTonka I have had a great experience here. This is my second year as a resident, and after living in the various University ______ apartment complexes while a student, this place is heaven. I'm not sure about the trash compactor issue since your lease includes valet doorside trash service Sunday-Thursday, so if you have a trash problem...well, it's probably a personal one. I had my vehicle broken into while living in Cary at a luxury apartment complex, but never here, I think it's just one of those risks you take living in an apt. in Raleigh. The neighborhood is VERY pet friendly, Karen (the property manager) knows me by name and is always very kind. I had an emergency maintenance issue this summer when my AC broke, and it was fixed within 4 hours of my calling the problem in. When I lived at Campus Crossings, the same issue took 3 days to fix and that was during a heat wave with 90+ degree temps. The neighborhood is very quiet and clean, lots of big trees and 2 trails to Lake Johnson. I have lived in 4 different neighborhoods since moving to Raleigh 6 years ago and this one is by far my favorite. Note: This neighborhood is under new mgmt. as of 11/2011. Perhaps a reason for the better reviews.
