Terrible experience in my year living here. Bottom line up front: DON'T MOVE IN HERE! Here's the lowlights if you want details: - Paper thin walls. You will hear EVERYTHING that is going on above you and next to you. - Towing. The parking policy is ridiculous. If you have a friend stop by and you didn't coordinate a parking pass (which is good for one day) then you are screwed. You can't just invite a friend over without prior coordination. I had 3 friends towed in 9 months. It costs $160 each time to get your car back. - The staff is all excited and nice as they show you the place. Once you sign and move in, they couldn't care less about you. Customer service is non existent. - Crime... several break ins and stolen vehicles during my time here (June 2011- June 2012). They will sugar coat this and lie to you when you are shown the place. - The way you pay rent and request service for your apartment is through this crappy web based program. If you try and get some service from the front office, they just refer you to the site. - Tons of dogs in the complex. Don't get me wrong, I love dogs; I've got 2 of them. But no one picks up after their dogs here and there is dog poop everywhere. Lot's of people don't take care of their dogs or train them and they bark all day. I had two neighbors that had dogs that would bark all day. In summary, I'm in the military and have lived in a lot of places. This is the worst overall experience I've ever had. The apartments are actually relatively nice inside. It's a shame they didn't build the place a little better and provide a little customer service along the way. I HIGHLY recommend you look elsewhere. The place shows nice... you'll feel good about it after your tour. And then you will be sorely dissappointed for how ever long you live here. Just being honest.

All that glitters is definitely not gold...the LCD TV, crown mouldings, contemporary look are great, but living here from day to day is not. Residents' safety is far from a priority at Signal Hill. For the second time in the going on 10 months I've been here, there was another crime notice e-mailed to residents and they posted through out the building I live in here at Signal Hill. If I'm not mistaken, the two motorcycles stolen last night brings the tally to six or seven bikes stolen from the parking deck at the 2150 building. I believe one of my neighbors had his pickup truck stolen from this parking deck, along with those bikes. Also, recently, one of my neighbors had the wheels and tires stolen from his car (for the second time), which prompted him to immediately move out. The magnetic door locks to the building have not worked in two months, so the building sits wide open to anyone who wants to walk right in. Couple this with a wide open parking deck, your personal safety and the safety of your personal vehicle are at stake, and it appears this not going to change anytime soon. I also watched one of my neighbors get attacked by a pitbull--dogs that are not allowed here. The thin walls and other shortcomings of this apartment complex are minor compared to the rash of crime that has happened here most recently, but I would certainly recommend that prospective renters stay away.

I have lived here since August 2010.... just got the 4th notice of car theft in the parking garages today, good thing I don't park my car there. I will NOT be renewing our lease this August due to the crime, PAPER thin walls....(our neighbors TV hangs on the same wall our bed is against... as it wont fit against any other wall. I am a college student and this makes it impossible to read or study in my room.) and expensive rent for such cheaply made apartments, not to mention lack of any space. I would not recommend anyone to live here.

I wish I had taken the time to read the reviews before I moved to Signal Hill. The safety of the residents' and their vehicles are compromised on a daily basis. I have lived here for only 2 months, I have received 2 different emails from management that the rims and tires have been stolen off of one of the residents vehicle for the second time and 2 motorcycles had been stolen on the other occassion. Residents leave the doors propped open all the time. I have left several messages for the manager to call me, she was always too busy to call back. Parking is horrible. I have come home and had to park in the guest parking on several occassions. I would not recommend moving to Signal Hill Apartments.

I can only give this place a two-star rating, based on the fact that they chose not to insulate the walls in the least. In a normal home this may suffice, but when living with people next door, it becomes a real problem. I can hear neighbor's conversations at night when trying to sleep. When I get home from work, all I hear is the "thump thump thump" of bass coming from a subwoofer. When I try to go to sleep early and my girlfriend wants to watch TV, I hear the TV sound through the wall. They also cheaped out a little bit on the dishwasher, as it works but the dishes always seem to come out with a bit of a film/grit to them. Perhaps that is just my choice of detergent, I will probably try something new. The interior of the place is very nice and comfortable, and I do love getting the LCD tv included, since I did not have a TV (I have had roommates last few years and never had a need to buy one yet). The blinds are very nice, as they are the wood shutter style blinds, instead of the cheap metal ones. The shower is nothing fancy, but better than average. The staff is also very nice, and accommodating. The facilities are nice, as they have three newer treadmills, a couple elliptacles (sp), and a bike or two, along with some machines. There is a nice lounge area as well, and two grill areas outside. It is a shame that the walls are so thin, because based on these reviews I think they would have moved up by a star or two. In terms of the crime, I have not heard of anything happening, and have not noticed our door propped open. Perhaps management's action has stemmed the tide. I think the issue was that, because of no gate, the garage at night is actually MORE unsafe than the parking lot. I imagine at 3 in the morning it is very dark and quiet and private. The only advantage of a garage without controlled entry is preventing sun damage.
