I would highly recommend Tar River to anyone I know. They are clean, friendly, and active. You will see a golf cart of staff going around and fixing up the place daily. They will always come and fix whatever if broken in your home, fast and friendly. Most people do reviews when they are mad, and considering there are only a few shows how incredible thelse townhouses are!

My boyfriend and I have been living her for about 8 months and we are very happy. We share a one bedroom which has plenty of space for the both of us and our dog. The location is so nice. We are on the Elm street side of the estate and it is so quiet with very little traffic. The staff are all seriously so nice and the maintenance crew is top notch. On time, every time and seriously so friendly and helpful. The only down side is that there aren't washers and dryers in all the units but there is a laundry room here, but it is normally busy. It is a little more expensive but it is in a really nice area and the staff are all wonderful so I don't mind paying a little more.

I lived there for two years and quite enjoyed it. A 15 minute walk to ECU - 5 minute bike ride - and the river, a park, and dog park are just next door. It seemed a bit overpriced but I guess you pay for the location. My only major qualm (and I do feel rather passionately about this one) is the internet. They claim to provide free internet, which they technically do, but at a speed of literally less than one MBPS. Literally all of my neighbors had to buy their own internet, while still paying for the 'internet' Tar River provides.

I lived at Tar River Estates for two years and have to say that my experience was pretty dreadful. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT RENT HERE. Initially I thought the prices were very reasonable and that the apartment itself was cruddy but decent given the price. The one saving grace of this complex is it's location-- close to campus, the dog park, and the greenway. However, the amazingly low quality construction of the apartment buildings will inevitably lead to you spending outrageous amounts of money for utilities to keep your apartment barely tolerable in the heat or cold. The insulation is so bad that my roommates and I (who split utilities four ways) sometimes paid over $100 each in the hottest months of summer or the coldest months of winter. Ridiculous. Furthermore, our apartment was plagued by cockroaches year-round. The downstairs was particularly bad. Tar River did send exterminators from time to time, but to no avail. So if you're happy with paying ludicrous amounts for utilities that don't even keep your apartment comfortable and the perpetual presence of arthropods, then Tar River Estates is the place for you. Additionally, don't bank on getting your security deposit back. Because you probably won't see a penny of it. These crooks will use any excuse to deduct money from your deposit to pay for "damages" that would be fixed when they re-do the apartment for the next tenants anyways. It is truly ridiculous. Also, don't get your hopes up for swift service when things break in your apartment (and they will). The only time we received timely attention for a service request was when our freezer's ice maker broke and FLOODED our kitchen. So I guess if you're ok with being generally ignored until you have an emergency then Tar River is the place for you. Knowing what I do now, I would not recommend living in this apartment complex. The price seems great but is countered by the excessive utilities costs and other misfortunes you're sure to encounter while living here. It's definitely worth living somewhere with better construction that's a little bit more expensive, because you won't have to put up with any of this nonsense.

Great location, decent apartments, nice management but only exclusive amenity is small laundry room (also worthless exercise area.) The pool and volleyball court is not regulated, always crowded with non-residents, people come from all over Greenville including places like North Campus Crossing where they do regulate the pool! Definitely not a kid friendly place especially on weekends with glass bottles, cursing, lots of frat horseplay, and parking lot/streets slammed with visitors.
