Yes, it's cheap, but it's definitely not the safest place to live. So far I have witnessed people spray painting cars, riots, a shooting, and a SWAT team in the parking lot at 5 in the morning. It's definitely not a "student" complex anymore since hardly any students live here and won't come near it. The staff is horrendous and you basically have to threaten them in order to get anything done, and even then it takes forever. Just do yourself a favor and go live somewhere else. You'll pay more, but you won't have to buy a tazer just to feel safe.

If you are looking for a place where you can get the biggest bang for your buck, this is your place! I have been at The Commons for two years and have been very happy with the service I have received. I paid just $389 a month, though now it is even more affordable, and received a fully furnished, all utilities included apartment along with full access to Southview and Stonegate's amenities, free tanning, AND a Gold's Gym Membership. Every time I submitted a maintenance request, the problem was completely fixed within the same day. In fact, I had an issue with my fridge. Within minutes, I had a new fridge in my apartment. Furthermore, the maintenance staff and management are incredible! Management was willing to bend over backwards to help me with any issue and always treated me with respect and kindness. I honestly could not have asked for more in an apartment complex!

While I've lived here there have been riots in the parking lots, tires slashed, shootings, and poor management. It's cheap and you get what you pay for, old appliances and gross carpets.

I've lived in the Commons 2 years now, and it's a great housing situation for such an affordable price. The furniture and utilites are included, the staff is helpful, and it's a really nice place for college housing. I would recommend it highly to anyone at JMU or Blue Ridge!! :)

ive lived here since August. Its a great price and a good location to campus. The new managment company is much better. they just installed leather furniture in all of the units, which is cool.
