Emily Green
I am a Minneapolis native and a Realtor in the Twin Cities area with over 20 years of experience. I live in the Midtown area where my husband and I enjoy the walk-ability, restaurants, entertainment and everything our urban setting has to offer.
Quatrefoil Library
Emily Green: Welcome to the neighborhood Quatrefoil! One of the oldest GLBT libraries is coming to the Phillips and Powderhorn communities. This exceptional organization has decided to locate on the main level of the Spirit on Lake housing development. Everyone is welcome to browse Quatrefoil's collection and members ( small yearly fee) are allowed to check out their selections.
Midtown Phillips Art Spot
Emily Green: Dedicated on November 9, 1991, this is a Neighborhood Safe Art Spot. The artist are Baron E. Lewis, Marilyn Lindstrom and Walter Griffith. Sponsored by the Minneaplis Community Crime Prevention in cooperation with PPNAI and the people of Phillips. I am still gathering information on this interesting neighborhood landmark. Please comment if you have any history to add!
Spirit on Lake
Emily Green: The long awaited Spirit on Lake GLBT housing development is finally here! This senior housing development will host Quatrefoil, a GLBT library on the main level, and 46 1 and 2 bedroom apartments above. This is a very exciting addition to the community and it is filling a great need in the elder GLBT community. Thank you PRG, a non-profit housing developer in the city of Minneapolis, helping to create affordable, sustainable housing for all.
Mercado Central
Emily Green: Mercado Central looks simple from the exterior but inside is a bustling mini market of great food, international boutiques and lots of culture. The food cannot be understated and there is so much to choose from. Great space to take a group, especially if you are working on your Spanish, but English only speakers are just as welcome. A true neighborhood gem!
In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre
Emily Green: Heart of the Beast could also be named Heart of Phillips/Powderhorn. The iconic theater is the centerpiece of the May Day festival as their larger than life puppets traverse Powderhorn Lake. HOB theater's influence can be seen in many places in the neighborhood from coffee shops to the Global market.
Midtown Exchange Condos on the Greenway
Emily Green: Urban living with all of its perks at Midtown Exchange Condos on the Greenway. A 52 unit condo building has views of the Midtown Greenway, but the most exciting feature is an underground tunnel that connects to the Global Market (food, food and food), Sheraton Hotel and the skyways to Abbott for a mid winter walk. Future plans for a trolley on the Greenway would round this location off as the hottest new spot in the city!
Ecopolitan
Emily Green: If you have never tried vegan raw food, it might sound a little scary, but Ecopolitan has some of the best food in the city. This is a great place to go and experience new flavors and ideas for cooking with vegetables at home. For newbies, I recommend the burrito with cheesecake for dessert. You won't miss a thing!
