Michele K
I am a local Realtor who has lived in the Los Altos area of Long Beach for over 20 years. Our Walkscore would increase dramatically if they inputted Lazy Acres as a grocery store and not just a coffee shop. Also, the recent addition of the Family Health Care center is a huge Walkscore booster. Call me anytime for tips and suggestions on places in and around the Long Beach area. I don't shy from giving my opinion!
Bai Plu Thai & Sushi Bar
Michele K: This is a neighborhood favorite probably because of the large sushi bar and the larger size of the restaurant in general. Most sushi places to be small and lack atmosphere. Bai Plu is a good place to host a large group. The owner is a small gregarious woman and brings bit of spice to the place. Sushi chefs are fun bunch of guys and I like the fact that you get good Thai food here as well.
Umberto Men's Clothing
Umberto Men's Clothing
Michele K: You simply must stop into Umberto's to meet the owner. He opened his fine men's clothing Store in 1960 and now has 3rd generation customers using his services. Their selection is large, varied and exquisite. The expert tailoring is one of their biggest assets. If you stop in, be sure to tell Umberto Michele K sent you!
Whaley Park Community Center
Michele K: Best park in Long Beach, hands down! Play areas for the younger and older sets. Pony league field gives it an All-American feel. Well-used basketball courts. Large picnic area. Recreation building has bathroom. The city recently expanded the parking lot which unfortunately has taken a large chunk of recreation area but the good news is there is plenty of parking. There is a light at the cross-walk but watch for unaware drivers speeding to the light on Bellflower.
Lazy Acres Natural Market
See's Candies
Michele K: Of all the shops we are lucky to have within walking distance, I still can't believe we are, shall I say, blessed to have a See's right here in Los Altos! The one item I would miss the most if I ever moved from California would be See's Chocolate and this store in particular. I have made good friends while waiting in long lines during the holidays. Always fun and of course, alway rewarding. The women that work there are charmers. Nothing but sweet things from me on this store!
2nd Street Beauty
Michele K: 2nd Street Beauty is also a Beauty Salon and well as a Skin Care Center. I believe the girl's name that has been there forever and has a great reputation is Ivy. They carry all lines of high-end hair and skin treatment, as well as good quality make-up if you can't make it to the mall. Perfect place to pick up a quick cute gift.
AT&T Store
Michele K: Our AT&T store in the Los Altos Shopping Center just expanded! This is great news as the wait times seem to have decreased greatly with the expansion. I have to say customer service at this store is fantastic - I never had a client care specialist who didn't put a smile on my face even under the most frustrating of times.
2nd Street Beauty
Michele K: Not quite your east coast bagel but as close as you will get without heading to the Valley. Above average coffee, lattes, and smoothies. The Palm Springs with their exceptional good lemon pepper is my recommendation. Has a garden setting rear patio area or a front patio that is nice for watching Los Altos life pass you by. Great meeting spot!
Lazy Acres Natural Market
Michele K: Natural Food Grocery Store with an above average butcher department, wine selection, bakery and fresh fruits and vegetables. It has replaced Bristol Farms, also a grocery store, that Walkscore has incorrectly categorized has a coffee shop. Lazy Acres has the best ice cream - try McConnell's out of Santa Barbara
