Before moving to the Bay Area my girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Eastlake. First, the building itself is incredibly quiet and full of friendly, bright, hardworking people. The management and staff are superb and always helpful. We honestly didn't hear a peep from our neighbors at night, but definitely hung out with them during the day. If you get a chance, grab one of the apartments with the gigantic deck and extra tall ceilings (12 ft). We planted parsley and tomatoes in the available planters. Yum. As for commuting, we both worked in opposite directions: me, downtown, and my girlfriend, north. These were both very easy commutes since side streets are totally open in the morning from here. Also, the freeway is surprisingly unclogged heading south from Eastlake, just past Voxx coffee and up a street (I was lazy sometimes and drove the three minutes to work rather than taking the bus). And please don't forget that they harbor a great gym (better any I've seen at apartment buildings) and a stunning roofdeck. We hosted many parties up there and almost always shared space with really nice neighbors. The perks of 2851: neighbors, neighborhood, WATER! (view towards Lake Union, dog-friendly, management, the excellent gym, Irina, Afton, 4th of July from you deck, commute, Voxx coffee down the street, plus many other nearby restaurants and a great convenient store across the street. The downside: sometimes freeway noise makes its way over. Airplanes taking off from Lake Union may annoy some people. The parking spaces are air tight.
