I have been here for almost a year, and I HATE THIS PLACE. Honestly, I read the reviews before I moved in, and thought that maybe it was a misunderstanding (plus, the price was really good). The ladies in the office are nice, but that's it. The day I moved in, the hot water didn't work, the lights didn't work, NOTHING WORKED. When it came time for me to use my heat, it didn't work. I'm counting down the months until I can leave this awful place. My toilet was leaking when I moved in, they "patched" it up, until it started leaking again. My roof looks like it's caving in (something they "fixed" before I moved in) and there are huge cracks in the foundation as if the place is about to settle to pieces. My kitchen floor sinks in. The laundry facility sucks...but it's super expensive. I called every day for a week for them to fix my hot water heater...they came out every. single. day. and it still wasn't resolved. I would take a shower, the hot water would run out, and then it would never get hot again. Then the woman asked me like I was stupid if I knew how it worked? I said I'm barely there, I take a shower, go to work, come back 8 hours later, and it's still not refilled? That's a problem. A WHOLE WEEK. Then, they have the nerve to make sure they get their money on time. I have the pleasure of being by a neighbor that thought it was okay to have a bon-fire at all hours of the night with the music blasting. People smoke in every single unit, so the place smells like a chimney. I have scents everywhere and still it's no match for the smoke. I open up the balcony door, and they're out there smoking. Speaking of balcony door, I didn't get a screen to the door until months after I moved in...it doesn't fit on the track because the track was already bent. I have two and half months left, and I haven't even unpacked all my stuff. I have no desire to be here. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I asked a long time ago to speak to corporate...never got a call. These apartments are spacious, and the price is cheap...PLEASE, PLEASE don't let that help you make your decision. Unless, of course, you're looking forward to awful service.

My boyfriend and I have lived here since 2011, and we are moving into a house at the end of this month. The first year we lived at Black Forest the electricity in the kitchen went out. Maintenance never came to fix it, even though they were contacted several times. We've had to plug our coffee pot and microwave into living room outlets. Oddly enough, the electricity in the living room has stopped working in certain outlets too. The exhaust fan in the bathroom pours out water at random times (probably from poor drainage on the roof of the complex), so there is no doubt mold growing the ceiling. Maintenance was contacted, but never did anything about it. Our roof also leaked right above the kitchen counter, where there are visible patches from previous tenants complaining. Maintenance actually showed up this time, but just used some caulk to patch it. Black Forest never actually *fixes* an issue, they just patch things up until the next tenant moves in. Last but not least, in our last 2 weeks of living here, we have acquired an ant infestation in our bathroom. I would say it is our fault, but they are only in the bathroom and they aren't finding any food! They are coming in through a crack in the foundation behind our toilet. We don't even care. We'll be out of this dump by next week, anyway. FYI: The maintenance man lives next door to us, so the fact that things NEVER get fixed is actually quite sad. His dog does poop on our porch, though. This place is cheap, yes. If you absolutely need somewhere to live, I can understand why you would choose to live here. However, cheap is as cheap does... and you are soon going to find yourself using your coffee pot in your bedroom.
