Food and service were both amazing! It's definitely a hole in the wall place in downtown Pleasanton, but the second you walk in, you know you're in for a treat! I had the special for dinner (blue cheese crusted steak) and the scalloped potatoes are the best I've ever had. Highly recommend the bread pudding for dessert (if you have the tummy-space!).

Overpriced and really not all that great. Food was dry and tasteless. Given the price tag the food should be like Mortons or any other top ranked steakhouse. Thus absolutely was not the case.

I went to Hap's to celebrate some friends moving to a new job out of state. We were a party of six and were looking for a night of fine dining. We ordered appetizers, sides, entrees, drinks and desserts. The food was rich with flavor, everything was cooked perfectly. Our server was attentive, friendly and accommodating. We had a wonderful night full or laughter and wine. The one negative which my husband could not help but notice, was the poor manner in which the assumed manager carried herself. She was an older woman with dark curly hair. My husband noticed at first, she stood in the back of the room staring down our table like we somehow didn't belong. He even caught her gesturing toward our table to two of our servers as if asking if we were a problem. Our server seemed to shake her off. Now we were certainly among the younger people in the restaurant, but our other peers where clearly getting sloshed at the bar and acting very sloppy. Even after our over $400 check was paid for by our host, the manager was still glaring down our table. I found this to be in poor taste and poor representation of character. If I thought this was classy joint when I walked in, that woman sure proved that money can't buy you class. I have no problem going back to of the amazing steakhouses I've been too since I was kid in San Francisco. Thank You Hap's manager for embarrassing yourself and giving us something to gossip about for a minutes after!

The place is way too loud, almost to the point of decibel damage. Overpriced steak was ordered medium rare - arrived well done. $4 baked potato was requested with butter and sour cream - arrived with butter, sour cream, onions and bacon. String beands arrived warm and not cooked. Elapsed time between order and serving = 50 minutes. Iced tea was filled 15 minutes after requested I won't return.

I love the old steakhouse feel of the place. Excellent steaks. The staff is always makes an effort to find us a quiet spot away from the bar.
