I don't like much about this complex. The grass is dying, the patios are very weird and not private from your neighbors at all, the parking is absolutely terrible but they won't tell you that if you're a possible future resident, they take forever to fix things in our apartment, they always have excuses for things that aren't working properly and I paid a lot of money for a 2 bedroom 2 bath and I'd like to see a little more effort out of the staff.

Let's start with the positive. The apartment complex has absolutely gorgeous grounds. A nice little park, mature trees etc. There are two great looking pool areas that look great on the surface. The inside of the apartments are nicer than normal as they are 'luxury' apartments and you pay for the extra... however they were not truly 'luxury' by any means. Jonathan, one of the staff members was always very attentive, caring and doing the best he could to fix all of the problems that occurred. Unfortunately for what ever reason they are chronic and it appears that the corporate bureaucracy does not care about it's tenants. This was not the case when Archstone owned Vanoni Ranch as we were residents then. After they sold the facilities the quality of customer service dropped drastically. So on with the problems: 1. Moved in and carpets were dirty and had 'pet stains' on them. We had to call maintenance to clean it which they did. 2. For 8 months the hot tub has been cold at least once a month, ice cold. I moved in here because I have back issues and I count on the Hot Tub to help out my muscles. For some reason they don't fix the underlying problem and just keep 'resetting' the hot tub so it heats again for a short while until it fails again and someone reports the issue. 3. The hot tub has been green several times or over chlorinated to the point where my skin was heavily irritated. My skin is tough, and I don't even get burned when I touch a hot pan typically, so it is not a sensitivity issue. 4. During the middle of the night a water pipe burst upstairs above our heater and water flooded the upstairs. I shut off the main water and called the maintenance. This occurred at 3am and my 3 small children and wife were frighten by the situation. The heater broke at the same time and it took over a month in half to 'get the part' to fix the heater. This was during December the coldest time of the month. 5. Our dishwasher broke. 6. Our garbage disposal broke. 7. Our drain was constantly clogging until the cleaned out the 'main drain' 2 months later. 8. The brackets on our shelves broke. 9. Our carbon monoxide detectors kept going off for weeks until they finally fixed them. 10. Our garage door is very loud and makes strange noises when going up and down but that is just how it is I am told. 11. Our washing machine does the same thing. To some it up: The company does not want to maintenance their items and have more issues than they can handle it appears. I am not a happy camper. I am waiting for my house to be built and it has been delayed 4 months until completion. I requested due to all of the issues that my contract be extended 4 months at the same rate I am paying, however the customer is not right ever in this case and I am forced to pay $200 more per month. This is not good business.

This was my second Archstone (first was Thousand Oaks). Archstone spoiled me as far as apartments go. Service is always quick and the staff is quite friendly. Upon move-out they are very up-front and reasonable about costs. They are great about transfers as well. We had to transfer to Simi Valley for work reasons and it was absolutely painless. When we got a notice of an outrageous rent increase, all we had to do was go talk to the office about it. I have to wonder if any of the negative reviewers on the apartment ratings sites ever make an effort to communicate with the staff. It's an apartment, so the neighbor thing is never a certainty. Noise at Vanoni was very mild and we had friendly neighbors.

We've lived here for several months now and my overall experience has been great. There are some parking issues (not enough "free" parking) but I knew this when I moved in so I don't really have much of a complaint about it. The staff has been fabulous. They've all been so nice and helpful. And since we're on the backside of the community, it is relatively quiet. The floor plan is excellent and we love the amenities. It is a little bit pricey, but again, I knew this going in and made the choice to pay for it. I wasn't able to find any other communities that I liked as well. We're very happy here.

I have lived here for over 6 years. Great place to live. Staff in leasing offices & service technicians are very accommodating and nice to work with. Grounds are well kept & problems are immediately handled & resolved as soon as possible. My apartment feels like my home with everything I need like the laundry room in my unit is a must & commputer nitch is nice. I am ready to have my carpet replaced for a year & have just not gotton packed yet. I highly recommend archstone Vanoni Ranch. Susanna
