A few reasons why you may want to re-think moving to the Gables Upper Rock.
1)The noise factor. From construction trucks driving down choke cherry road at 6am coming into the complex, to hearing neighbors argue and kids running in the hallways, to parties with loud music at all hours of the night. If you have infants or small toddlers you can count on their sleep being interrupted. YOU CAN HEAR EVERYTHING
2)Safety - Cars have been broken into several times, (Montgomery County police report in April 2013). Shady looking men standing by the security doors out front and once someone leaves they run inside the building. For a "luxury" apartment, there is no doorman or security guards patrolling the premises. 3) Parking - Parking is a HUGE problem here. Hundreds of space, but no guest parking. a new rule started a few weeks ago that you are only allowed 1 guest parking pass per apartment home. Which means you cannot have your family and friends visit or they WILL AND HAVE BEEN TOWED!!!!
3) The POOL is not heated as advertised (the pool boy advised that THE GABLES DOES NOT HAVE PERMISSION TO HEAT THE POOL) 4)Management - Ignores customers complaints, rude and insensitive. I would renew my lease if Gables Residential removed the current management.
A Positive? The neighbors (who are also looking for a way out) are very friendly and thoughtful.
The buildings look nice but aren't built well. Noise is an issue. Dog waste is everywhere. People smoke on their balconies and outside the buildings. Parking is an issue, especially for guests (and will get worse . . . if the building ever fills up). The pool is noisy. The gym is crowded. The energy efficiency and environmentally friendly pitch? Saying it doesn't make it so. A couple of proprietary CFL's doesn't make it so either. Poorly sealed windows and doors (several apartments have flooded) say it in fact isn't so. It's definitely not the worst place, but it definitely isn't luxury.
