Living in Omaha

On one side of the Missouri River, there’s Omaha, Nebraska, on the other, Council Bluffs, Iowa. The two combined make up the greater Omaha metro area, a region that’s home to ConAgra foods, Mutual of Omaha Insurance, and Warren Buffet’s multinational Berkshire Hathaway.

Metro Transit provides bus service to the city and surrounding neighborhoods, including express service across the river to Council Bluffs. Omaha was once an important hub for transportation. Amtrak still runs here but the historic art deco Union Station is now home to the Durham Museum. Heartland B-cycle has bike sharing stations downtown and near the Convention Center.
