Eric Hanson: Guests of the Destin Army Recreation Area have access to a private beach, reserved for use by military personnel, located less than three miles from the resort (which is on Choctawhatchee Bay on Calhoun Ave.). They have 2- and 3- bedroom villas, 1-bedroom suites, an RV site and full-service marina where you can charter a fishing or sight-seeing tour. They also lease pontoons for that all-important trip to Crab Island!!
