The Mercury
Abe Chang: Busy intersection for those wanting an active urban life. Both the Purple line and bus routes stop here along with the Santa Monica Rapid 7. Lots of choices between coffee, Korean food, and sushi are all in walking distance. In the daytime it's safe to walk anywhere, but at night, I would not walk too far south of 7th and not north of 6th. Living next to rail stations really is the next real estate boom in Los Angeles. If you can buy, buy now.
2121 James M Wood Blvd
Abe Chang: Beautiful 1923 building that was recently converted to condos in 2011. It's a few blocks from the Purple line, which in the daytime is fine to walk, but would be sketchy at night. It's not the cleanest place to be. But there are tons of local merchants all along these streets and great street vendors.
Tokyo Villa Homeowners Associates
Abe Chang: The building feels like you are walking into an older hotel. There is a security guard at the lobby that checks visitors in. Although the Tokyo Villa condos aren't as cool as living in a loft, the location is great. And since it's in Little Tokyo, it feels safe, even at night (at least for me). Lots of dining options a block or so away. Close to light rail station & soon the RC Connector will have an even closer station making it easier to hop on the train.
Little Tokyo Lofts
Abe Chang: Not quite in Little Tokyo, probably more bordering Skid Row. Daytimes are fine to walk around, but sketchy at night. The Downtown Women's Center is next door and they have a great cafe. First floor of LT Lofts isn't much to brag about. LA County services take up most of the space. Maybe in the next few years development will improve the area.

Lemonade
Abe Chang: I first tried Lemonade in Weho. I liked the place from the start, but for some reason, trying to figure out how to order food seemed more difficult than it should have been. I'm glad they opened one in Brentwood and still love their food. Their lemonade, despite the name is way too sweet for me though, so I skip it.
