Sean Delizo: Honestly the kindest, family owned liquor store in all of Oakland.

Sean Delizo: The newest addition to the Mosswood community, Elder & Pines is a second hand/consignment store marketed towards the "trendiest" men. If you are looking for a Penny board (formerly known as a banana board) or if you want to get a pair of vintage work boots that someone else did all the work in, this is the store for you.

Sean Delizo: Don't be deceived by the name, this Whole Foods is an anomaly of a grocery store. Ask any Whole Foods shopper in the East Bay and they will tell you this place is more of a warehouse than a local market.

Sean Delizo: Now, being from San Diego, I am definitely biased against the Mexican food in Oakland, but I must admit, out of the countless taco trucks and shops I have visited, this truck must be one of the better ones. Parked on Broadway and 29th 5 days a week, this truck is the old reliable for the Harrison Street neighborhood.

Sean Delizo: For anyone involved within the community activism scene in Oakland, you are most likely familiar with this venue. The amphitheater is a common meeting spot for community organizations and festivals.

Sean Delizo: School themed brunch spot that hails its macaroni and cheese, few things in life sound more appealing.

Sean Delizo: This collection of shops and coffee shops is one of the highlights of Oakland. Tucked away on 49 street, take a stroll down the alley and check out all the little shops.

Sean Delizo: A tiny coffee shop in Temescal Alley with a seriously tasty cup of coffee. The baristas are quite kind as well!

Sean Delizo: One of my favorite aspects of the Temescal neighborhood is how you can turn your head and see ample amounts of street art. The community artists truly breath life into this neighborhood.

Sean Delizo: Preparing for the lunchtime rush, Bakesale Betty sets up barricades to keep the mob rushing in orderly for service. With a simple shop front, Bakesale Betty packs an unexpected culinary punch.

Sean Delizo: The Temescal neighborhood begins and ends with Telegraph avenue. Many of the community events in Temescal happen on the corner of Telegraph avenue and 49th Street

Sean Delizo: Great vintage shopping in a beautiful neighborhood, but it does come at a pretty penny.

Sean Delizo: Beautiful, community church right on the corner of Webster and MacArthur.

Sean Delizo: Awesome neighborhood bar with multiple pool tables, classic signage and ping pong!

Sean Delizo: During daylight and business hours, this parking lot serves exactly as that, a parking lot. Come 6 pm, this parking lot becomes a bike polo arena with multiple bikers attempting to hit a plastic ball into their opponents' goal. After polo finishes up, Thursdays at 9 pm, the childhood sport of Foursquare takes over making this parking lot into a underground sports arena.

Sean Delizo: Not a bad breakfast place in the Rockridge neighborhood. Great French toast and the train that circles the restaurant is pretty nifty for children and adults!

Sean Delizo: Living in a day of digital media, this is one of the last standing places in the east bay to get your film developed.

Sean Delizo: A long withstanding part of the Rockridge community, the Presbyterian Church puts on some excellent community events.

Sean Delizo: Just outside the bart station, this piece of public art is a focal point of the Rockridge community and lets visitors know exactly where they got off.

Sean Delizo: The Rockridge station is footsteps away from Market Hall Produce. This market has an excellent organic produce section.

Sean Delizo: Stevens Productions is a neat little studio that brings vibrant life to the Harrison Street neighborhood.

Sean Delizo: One sure thing about the Oakland Avenue/Harrison Street neighborhood is that there are some architecturally gorgeous buildings in the area.

Sean Delizo: An unexplained piece of street art in Oakland, the Freeway Giraffes are always watching out for dangerous drivers.

Sean Delizo: Vernon Market may be a small convenience store, but since moving to Oakland, it has been a lifesaver with its extended hours (open past many grocery stores). For some reason, Vernon Market seems like a popular hangout no matter the time of day.

Sean Delizo: Telegraph and 52nd is lined with outstanding art by community members celebrating the diversity within Oakland.

Sean Delizo: Every major city needs their Burma Superstar! A great place to get delicious Burmese food (the country is now known as Myanmar) and excellent vegetarian options as well.

Sean Delizo: One of the rad-est bike shop displays I've ever seen. Tip Top partners with local safety instructors providing the community with bicycle safety and maintenance.

Sean Delizo: I've had many cheese steaks outside of Philadelphia and quite honestly, the Cheese Steak Shop has the only one worth a try. Scrumptious bread and well-seasoned meat.

Sean Delizo: Some of the best Ethiopian food in the neighborhood. All the food is served family style over injera (Ethiopian spongy bread) and extremely flavorful.

Sean Delizo: Best community resource for holistic and natural remedies. Superb selection of herbs and quality produce as well.

Sean Delizo: Right out of 50s film, the Kwik Way Drive In is a kitschy fast food counter with some newer additions to the menu.

Sean Delizo: One of Lakeshore's premiere eating locations, Cana offers refined Cuban inspired food and beautiful patio seating.

Sean Delizo: This NoLa inspired bar has some tasty bourbon drinks. The service here is very friendly and the ambiance follows in suit.

Sean Delizo: A delicious staple of the Lakeshore community, Arizmendi Bakery brings outstanding baked goods, eccentric pizza toppings and excellent vegetarian options to the neighborhood

Sean Delizo: By far the most DANGEROUS restaurant in Oakland. The coach, owner and sake pourer, walks around this place with an enormous bottle of sake. For $3, patrons of Coach Sushi will get unlimited pours of sake all night. Beware of the coach!!!

Sean Delizo: I kid you not, if you are in dire need of a cocktail in Oakland, Sidebar should be your first thought. Also a great dinner destination if you are a lover of fries, because almost everything comes with fries.

Sean Delizo: Merritt station caters to all Oakland audiences. In addition to having the traditional coffee shop treats, Merritt Station gives its customers ample amounts of vegetarian and vegan options.

Sean Delizo: The Morcom Rose Garden is one of Oakland's most beautiful attributes. Tucked away in the Grand Lake neighborhood, the Rose Garden is a splendid place to seek some solitude

Sean Delizo: Lake Merritt's Garden Center can be a little tricky to find, but keep your eyes open for two leaning bonsai trees and you've found your destination. The Garden Center in Oakland is a magnificent place to find serenity in a town canvassed in concrete.

Sean Delizo: A classic symbol of Oakland. In its hay day, this sign shined bright for miles around. Today, this theater is still a community go to showing current movies as well as political events.

Sean Delizo: Do not judge the content of a store by its size. 1-2-3-4 Go! Records may be a modest shop front, but it is jam packed with an eclectic selection of records making it a go to record shop in Oakland.

Sean Delizo: Manifesto Bikes, one of the premiere bike shops in Oakland has some extraordinary bike parking. Not only is this place one of the friendliest community bike shops, but overall, a pleasant place to spend an afternoon

Sean Delizo: One of the rad-est children's parks in Oakland. With the entire play structure pirate themed, sunny afternoons are the best times to take your young "buccaneers" to Mosswood PARRRK.

Sean Delizo: A little known secret to those outside of the Harrison/Oakland Ave. community, this staircase connects Kempton Avenue to the Oak Glen Park and serves as a delightful shortcut leading to Broadway and Piedmont Avenue.

Sean Delizo: By far the funkiest coffee shop in all of Oakland. As you walk in, you'll notice the walls adorned with trinkets and knick knacks that'll make you question life.

Sean Delizo: Grand Bakery is an essential stop when in the Grand Lake area. This family owned kosher bakery puts together some tasty treats at a very low cost.

Sean Delizo: One of the few standing independent bookstores in the East Bay, Walden Pond Books has been serving the community for decades.

Sean Delizo: Rebooty is one of those shops you walk by and are compelled to stop to ask yourself, "What in the world is that?" With some very eccentric street side decor, Rebooty lures their customers in for some out of this world second hand buys.

Sean Delizo: Camino offers its patrons a different dining experience than they may be used to. With communal tables, you may sit with a group of people you may have never met before, but it is a superb way to strike a conversation with a stranger. Camino has tasty drinks and attentive service. Not to mention many of their fresh ingredients are prepared in a wood fired oven.

Sean Delizo: An excellent community resource that offers children's and adult classes on eskrima, also known as Filipino stick fighting.
