Class of Housing: Housing Authority, Low Income Affordable Housing, Section 8 housing, Public Housing The Housing Authority of the City of Carrollton is committed to be a leader in providing affordable housing for very-low, low and moderate-income persons through effective management and wise stewardship of public funds, partnerships with our residents and others to enhance the quality of life in our communities. Public Housing The Public Housing Program provides decent, safe and sanitary housing for low income families. An eligible applicant will be placed in an apartment located in the city of Carrollton. The Carrollton Housing Authority has five developments with six sites. The sites are Griffin, Ingram, Davis and Thomas Homes. These units are multifamily housing. The other two sites are Elder and Alabama and are Elderly disabled designated. The Carrollton Housing Authority has earned a Public Housing Assessment System PHAS Score of 90 and a Designation status of "High Performer" for the 2007 fiscal year. The PHAS score is comprised of assessments of four major operational areas. Applications for housing are taken by appointment o y. You must come into the office to receive the pre-application and the appointed date and time for the application interview. At the time of the interview you must bring the pre-application, proof of family income, birth certificate for all family members, picture ID for all family member that are 18 and older, and social secure cards for all family members. You must also provide housing history. A criminal history and credit check will be processed on all family members over the age of 18. Section 8 The Carrollton Housing Authority Housing Choice Voucher HCV Program is a rental assistance program for low income families. The HCV Program is funded from 4KKF8P Federal dollars that is dispersed by the Department of Housing and Urban Development. The participants are chosen from a waiting list. The waiting list is open periodically and the dates are announced in the Times Georgian classified section. Eligible families must keep their application up to date. All changes must be reported in writing. When a family is chosen, they are able to move into a home of their choosing based on their qualifications. Once on the program, all changes regarding the family composition or income must be reported by the 20th of the month in which the change occurs. The family will be recertified on an annual basis. The unit they choose to live in will also undergo an annual Housing Quality Standards inspection. Private Housing The Carrollton Housing Authority not o y provides public housing, but we also have a private sector. We offer two and three bedroom houses and duplexes at an affordable rate and with little to no wait. Our rates start at $350 to $550 depending on the unit that you choose. To qualify for these units, you must come into the office to receive a pre-application. Our application process is as follows: criminal background check on anyone 18 years of age and older, verification of the past five years of residency, and a credit check. We also require copies of Photo ID, Social secure Cards, Birth Certificates, and Verification of household income.
