*Updated* This continues to be a nice, quiet, safe neighborhood and one of the nicer apartments we had visited in the area of Dekalb Medical Center during out short 6 month stay. They are on the expensive side, around $1,400 compared to Jackson Square at little less than $1,200 but DC is technically in the City Schools of Decatur district, technically because it's hanging of the map by a thread. That being said the schools are astronomically better in Decatur school district. Always able to reach friendly, helpful people in the office and are as quick with filing work orders. The few light bulbs and the door handle that needed adjusting were all taken care of in 24 hrs. A few negatives, the windows are poorly insulated and rooms nearest the staircases are now 5-10 degrees colder than the thermostat and the rest of the house in January & February. Makes for cold winter nights! The living room in our apartment has no provided fan or lights whatsoever though they have light switches for such. When asked about lights/fan they expected my wife and I to purchase one for them to install in the ceiling. I found this to be absolute craziness! Do not expect to get a parking spot anywhere near your apt if you're not in by 6:30 - 7pm. Being about in the middle of the complex I've had to park what felt like 100 yards away before. They keep the complex kept clean but often the cleaning crews they hire are firing up leaf blowers as early as 730am during the week. Problem if you get to sleep in.
And poorly insulated windows.
