A friend was living here in the early to mid 90's. He moved out after his lease was up. Things back then were going down hill. I wasn't impressed by the outdated kitchens. The people letting their dogs bathroom in the elevator. Even then he had troubles w/the staff. This was still when big city, sports & entertainment names lived there. Only good thing are the views. Everything outside gates/walls looked like a body dump site. Look Riverfront your not the only game in town. If things were going bad like 20 yrs or so ago. You do the math.
Terrible experience staying here... My girlfriend lives here and signed a 12 month lease and it's been a nightmare. They discriminate against people with disabilities. Upon moving in there were holes in the wall appliances did not work and water leaks in walls... Sever requests and work orders later still has not been completed. paying $1600 a month to discriminated and be bullied by their staff.. My guests are constantly harassed. They run this community like a college dorm room & no professionalism or accountability. it's really sad because the property has such potential. Melissa & Jennifer the property managers never follow up with any requests from residents. They allow ridiculous parties at the recreational center down at the lobby and my girlfriend was verbally assaulted with sexually comments numerous times by all the thugs loitering in the lobby. My car is registered here in the community and they attempted to tow it. If your looking for a community to live in as a small business owner helping rebuild the economy here in Detroit this is NOT the place. RIVERFRONT TOWERS bullies it's residents & refuses to follow up on work orders, phone calls and emails, while discriminating against people in the community w/medical disabilities this is the place for you. Expect a run down apartment with holes in your wall and broke down appliances and water leaks if you sign a lease with lacole who was my girlfriends leasing agent and has also refused to respond to our complaints of discrimination. Also please note they leave the guard gate up and open for anyone to come in and out of the community. Why is my girlfriend paying 1600 a month to live in a gated community when the gate is never down to protect our family. I hope the administration at the apartments see this. Also the marina was shut down by the US coast Guard because it was condemned. They discovered it while searching for a dead body according to the coast guard I spoke with.
If I could give this place a 0, I would! DO NOT LIVE HERE! 1. The horrible staff. Rude, incompetent, and unprofessional. This goes from the gate to the leasing office to the maintenance; even the Hayman company. 2. Maintenance: Pest problems upon move-in which are largely ignored. Sewage issues. No hot water for a month and then days throughout occupancy. The kitchens are so outdated that your cabinets are literally falling apart. Evidence of flooding in kitchen no base boards so you could see the molding cabinet bottom. All our closet doors came crashing down because they were not installed properly. We have a small child in our home so you can see how this could be alarming, well if your not an employee of Riverfront that is. 3. Account: I've never been able to see my account online. So, I have no idea how much they're charging me for things. Has to be illegal. You never receive a monthly invoice. And with the other problems I'm sure this is no exception. 4. Packages are supposed to be listed online. This has only been reported once and months after delivery. So look forward to having to constantly contact the leasing office about any expected packages and I don't what to say about unexpected ones...you may never get them. Perhaps they keep them for themselves. Who knows? 5. Communication: They had the parking structure "cleaned" and started towing cars to different spots of the structure without contacting residents. Later that day there were notices placed on our doors letting us know we would be charged of our car needed to be moved. So, they waited until after they were towing our cars to notify us and then charged people. Hmmm, also illegal I would be pretty confident to say. This is not even half of the problems here, but enough that you should be sufficiently warned. I'm sorry if you already signed your lease. I truly am sorry and believe me you won't here those words from the staff. So just try and get through your lease.........good luck. DO NOT LIVE HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't waste your time everything seems great on the outside, but you can't cover up garbage for long before people realize they are living in a dump. I have lived here for too long and cannot wait to leave. The appliances are over 20 years old, and break down constantly. If you get something replaced in your apt, the maintenance staff take it from an apartment not being rented, so you never actually get a new item. The office staff are rude and forget to put in work orders all the time. We have had numerous flooding from the apartment above us, and when our personal items were ruined, they did not cover any of it with the insurance they egg you on to buy from them. People throw food and garbage off their balconies that then sits on the ground for days until someone gets around to picking it up. We are talking toilet plungers people! I have found more used condoms on the ground than I care to count. Every time I have complained and told the office staff exactly where they are, they do nothing and the condoms are generally there about 9 days until someone finally cleans them up. It seems like a nice place to live, until anything is wrong. Then the trouble starts and you have to deal with the most rude office staff I have ever encountered. There is always something messed up with the rent, and we have gone without water in our master bath for over a month. Whenever I got into the office for something there is almost always another tenant complaining about being treated badly. They are trying to get market value for these apartments and it is laughable. They take old apartments and slap granite countertops on them, but make sure you bring your own ice trays, cause the refrigerators are so old they do not have ice makers. There was not even a pole to hang clothes on in the closet when I moved in. I had to install it myself, so rest assured, it is coming with me when I move! the elevators are as old as the buildings and on many occasions only one works, sometimes none. People have gotten stuck in them many times. I helped the fire department find the right tower once to rescue a guy who was stuck in our elevator. Basically, if you like getting screwed, then this place will be good for you. If you are smart, you will look elsewhere.
