LOVE IT! I've been living here for about 2 years now and the recent improvement is remarkable! they have new office and maintenance staff who are really nice and accommodating and things are actually getting done:-)!! the management apparently listened to all of my neighbors and our feedback and we have no complaints now whatsoever, other than one counter top issue which they came that day for and replaced the whole thing:-) that never would've happened 2 years ago, They even changed to a professional snow/landscaping company so it looks really nice here all year round and i heard they are even gonna be creating some more parking spots, so that will be cool. All in all i would deff recommend this place if your looking for an affordable but really nice apartment complex. Some friends of mine moved in recently and they're really happy also, so looks like briarwood hills has made a real comeback. Everyone i talk to says they're renewing they're leases now, The old management/office girl REALLY sucked so they got a very bad rep but now things are very good,it looks like they even hired extra people because the office is sooo busy, fingers crossed it continues... it looks very much like it will
Office manager seemed helpful when showing the apartment but now she won't answer the office phone or return our calls. 7 months later we still haven't gotten our copy of the lease. $80 fee/month for maintenance that never gets done. Someone just moved out because she caught a maintenance guy in her apartment without her permission. There aren't nearly enough washers/dryers for the number of people here. The guys that plow do a TERRIBLE job; 2 weeks ago I fell in the snowy parking lot and sprained my ankle. There's a serious shortage of parking spots and they'll tow you if you park in a spot with lines but no number. The ceiling leaks because they painted over it instead of patching it, one closet door won't open, the heater in our loft is broken. If you have pets, you'll pay a $500 fee you never get back. When leaving, they ask you to paint the walls or they'll keep your deposit. Neighbor re-painted but still lost deposit because he didn't give 3 months notice, even though his lease was up. Briarwood is one of the worst decisions I've ever made, I can't wait to move.
I am going on my 8th month living at Briarwood, and I honestly cant think of a positive thing to say about the place. DO NOT RENT HERE! The apartments are a decent size for what you pay for rent, but the floor plan is terrible. There are no closets or storage space to speak of. The kitchens are beyond small, there is barely enough room for 2 people to stand, and you are given 5 cabinets to store everything. My fridge has not worked a day since I moved in, it constantly leaks and freezes my food. A week after I moved in, little spots started appearing all over where they had previously painted over leaks. Well, those spots still leak when it rains. I have never seen mold quite like this place either, everywhere you look mold pops up in the bathroom, kitchen, and living room. I have to go spraying bleach around at least once a week to stay on top of it all. EVERYTHING IS DATED. This place looks like it came straight out of the 70s. All my kitchen cabinets, counter tops and everything in the bathroom is all painted the same shade white. AVOID THE FIRST FLOOR. Apparently when they built the building they must have nailed the floor boards down, rather than screwing them in, because you hear every footstep. Every time someone moves around upstairs it squeaks terribly. I don't mind people with heavy feet, but the squeaking is unbearable. As for the maintenance, the crew is friendly enough, but they do these quarterly inspections where they just go in your apartment to look through your things apparently because they certainly aren't checking anything on the list they send out. Many of the items they list as "items they are checking" are currently broken in my apartment and nothing has been done. Keep in mind you have to pay an EXTRA $80 PER MONTH for maintenance, and they don't even cut the grass directly in front of my unit. THE WORST PART IS THE PARKING! Holy cow, there is an extreme lack of parking by 8:00pm. There are hardly enough spaces for the tenants, let alone visitors. And don't dare park in an unmarked spot, as they have a tow company that comes around and tows you with no warning. They towed me from a visitor spot because my car was out to far. (I have pictures to prove them wrong and they told me "Too bad") That brings me to my next gripe. Every spot on the top lot gets tree sap DUMPED all over them. Just take a look at any of there cars next time you are there, all of them are covered in tree sap. This place is terrible, and I would not wish it on anyone, find another place to live if you can.
Sure when you first walk in the walls have a fresh coat of paint on them and the carpets are freshly cleaned, so that might throw off your judgement. But once you live their you will see that the fresh coat of paint it probably the 30th coat of white paint the place has seen. And its everywhere! my bathroom sink is painted white, and when i clean it chips off everywhere!! The nice skylight in the loft, now leaks all over everything when it rains. The kitchen appliances are very outdated, and the spiral staircase is much more of a problem then i thought it would be, although it looks nice, dont try and wear socks onit! Now that we covered the housing itself, lets talk about the staff. The maintnence is very nice, but i guess its a bad thing i know them by first name because everything is always breaking! The head manager in the office is not only incredibly rude but she also is incredibly stupid! I made the mistake of signing a 13 month lease when i moved in, because the first month was free.. but the only reason i did that was because i needed to put down 2 security deposites! 1610.00 just to move in!!!! rediculous if you ask me! I am at the point where i would ratehr break my lease and let them keep my money then to fulfill the last 4 months of my lease!
