They did not adequately prepare my apartment before moving me in. The walls looked like they had been primed and not painted. The primer/paint formed very noticeable wrinkles and bumps on the walls, especially the corners. It did not smell like it had been cleaned, including the carpet. There were a lot of pest problems throughout the whole complex. The worst part was the sewage smell coming out of the tub in the bathroom of the master bedroom. It began my second year there and went on for several months and was part of the reason I moved out. They came out a few times but eventually gave up on a solution. It was absolutely terrible and caused the whole master bedroom to smell like sewage. They never offered me any kind of reimbursement for having to deal with this. Then, after I moved out, they sent me a bill for broken blinds. The blinds had been broken since before I moved in, but I did not know it until a few days after signing all my forms. It seems petty and greedy to me that they would send a bill for this to someone who consistently paid rent for two years while living in what often smelled like a sewage dump. While there were some amiable staff members, I felt like I had been cheated.
I've lived at Avalon for the past two years. The first year was rather pleasant. Christy was the property manager, and she ran it PERFECTLY! When she left, the new property manager, Sheri, however you spell it...took over and is slowly running it to the ground! I agree with the previous statements about mice and bugs..yes! All apartments got them, but Avalon does nothing to take care of the problem. Whenever you go over to the office and ask them to fix a problem, the property manager is usually outside talking to some person about her family life while we are waiting on the inside. AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE.. NOT! OH! Also, they have a policy to where if you don't pick up your packaged mail, from UPS/FEDex, whatever, they send it back from where it was sent. They are suppose to put notices in our mailboxes of this packaged mail. WE NEVER GOT ONE AND THEY SENT OUR PACKAGE BACK! Thanks Avalon Management! Now.. Back on April 30th, I got poison ivy all over my legs and arms. We noticed it came from our balcony. We asked them to take care of this poison ivy problem the day after... ITS GROWING LIKE WILD FIRES!!! Well.. Today is May 27th, and as I look outside.. ITS STILL THERE! We have to move out by Friday and we can't get our belongings out of the storage unit that is located on the balcony. Once again.. LAZY CUSTOMER SERVICE... LAZY MANAGEMENT! I will end with this.. YOU CAN GET "BETTER BANG FOR YOUR BUCK" BY SPENDING YOUR MONEY WISELY AT ANOTHER APARTMENT COMPLEX! My best advice... Look at the apartment complex called "THE LINKS!"
Worst place in Starkville to live. Don't let the looks deceive you. The management is horrible and very rude. It's pretty much an expensive ghetto.
Great! Love leaving here!
