Renters Beware!!!!!! I moved out last month. Maintenance illegally entered my apartment and tore out the carpet before my walk through and tried to charge me for damaged carpet. Carpet was not damaged. The property manager, Steven Payne, was of no help, very unprofessional and dishonest. When he realized I still had possession of the apartment for one more day, then he changed his demand for payment of the carpet. Now I am fighting to get my security deposit back. Apparently Avana mailed it without my unit number in the address and now it is lost. They will not help me at all to reissue the check. I am going to file complaints with the California Department of Consumer Affairs, Better Business Bureau, California Apartment Association and Greystar. Read the Yelp Reviews... I'm not the first victim and doubtful I'll be the last.
Prices are ridiculous, their trash dilemma is a nightmare, prepare to see massive overloads of trash regularly. The kids in the neighborhoods break into the cars at night and steal. It has happened to me, my mother-in-law, my neighbor upstairs and my neighbor next door. THEY DO NOT HONOR LONG TERM TENANTS. I've been here for 4 years and instead of getting a break on my rent every year they have raised it. The maintenance staff is superb! The office staff to include Chris the manager are exceptionally rude and pushy. They will attempt to use intimidation tactics on you. Don't let them, google your tenant rights! BUILDING L HAS ROACHES AND LEAKY CEILINGS. They store all their used apartment trash to include; water heaters, washers, dryers, microwaves, carpets, insulation, and debris behind building P which is INFRONT of building L, blocking 4 parking spots that tenants desperately need in a highly over crowded area. AND IT LOOKS HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL AND TRASHY. Not to mention the raccoons at night. LOL Wait till you deal with them! You are NOT ALLOWED to listen to music, have a beer, smoke a cigarette or be loud in the pool area. A cigarette I can understand but if you so much as play Pandora on your phone they will come out and complain to you. The Common area is NOT COMMON. They treat it as their own personal employee lounge and get really rude when you're trying to relax with your friends there. I will never recommend this place, once they get you in they really show their true colors. It looks magical on the website but don't be fooled! Also the Marines really bring this place down with all the parties and booze. As of May 5th 2015, the police have been in our complex a total of 5 times in the last 6 weeks. There ya go...
Avana is an ok place to live. I don't like the fact that there is no recycling offered, or the Marine/Taylor Swift saga I hear in the parking lot at 4am twice a week on work nights. Maintenance staff are super nice and do a good job. Landscapers blow dust and debris on my expensive ride ruining my paint. When I told the office they told me to call the landscape company. What a joke. Do your job please, unless you want to start paying my car wash bill or buy me a new paint job. Some of the office staff are lazy and not too bright. There are a few who know what they are doing. Renovated cabinets are nothing more than cheap paint over what was existed before. Most of mine are peeling and it doesn't look that great. I like it mostly because of the location and the price. Pool is a nice place to hang out and I love that there are grills to use.
If I could give them zero stars, I would. Poor customer service, leaking roofs, broken washer that took 2 weeks to repair, construction equipment everywhere.. I am miserable here.
