I love living here. This is my third apartment in Carmel Landing. The staff is very nice and my neighbors are respectful. They keep the grounds clean and I am so happy here. I definitely recommend it. The maintenance staff are all really nice, especially Hector and Carlos. A great place to live. :)
Do not live here unless you're ok with being uncomfortable in your own home and having the leasing office and maintenance staff basically laugh at your expense. We've had three infestations and one was actually caused by maintenance. Maggots, fleas and spiders..yes a spider infestation was caused because he didn't clean up after himself. Even the fact that I'm pregnant meant nothing to them. Do not live here, go live at the Jefferson. Also yes, the parking reviews are true..your car will get dinged up a bunch
Excellent apartments, quiet neighborhood, and also near Ralphs, GameStop, Ross, bookstores, and etc.
Initially, this apartment was great. Everyone seems so friendly when you move in. And most of the office staff is. But upon move out, the staff, one member in particular, was awful to work with. Our apartment had been broken into a few days after we moved most of our stuff out. We left some things that I was going to use to clean the apartment like a vacuum and a mop and a ton of cleaning supplies. A few odds and ends were left as well. When we went back to clean it, everything was missing except a few odds and ends. Our vacuum was stolen, our crock pot, a few motorcycle helmets, mop, cleaning supplies, and my husbands medical records. I know our apartment was locked when we left the first time. The windows were all shut and the doors were all locked. We live on the second floor too, so it isn't like our apartment would be easy to climb to. When we told the staff it might (and we said might, we weren't blaming anyone) have been someone with key, they refused to do anything or look into it at all. They said "it wasn't on record that anyone was in your apartment." Well of course it's not on record. If someone was going to break in and steal something they wouldn't tell you about it. I just wanted to let them know before we called the police and reported anything. I also just wanted them to be aware just in case this was happening in other apartments. Anyways, besides that whole debacle, the parking is atrocious. We were lucky enough to live on the edge of the complex so our visitors could park on the road but the parking lot was horrendous. The people who parked next to us were completely inconsiderate. We were lucky enough to be able to park our motorcycles in our assigned spot but they were still dinged up. They "repaved" the parking lot but all they did was repaint. The parking lot is all crumbly. Their maintenance was slow. We were locked INTO our apartment twice. Even though we put in an emergency call, they didn't show up for days. My husband had to take off the door completely in order to leave for work. The apartment complex looks nice on the outside. It's actually cute. And the insides are quirky and fun. But when you look close everything is done pretty poorly. The paint is lazily done (and they WILL charge you to repaint), the carpet is old and gross. The fixtures are put in haphazardly. Our electrical box was painted shut. The walls are thin. We never heard our next door neighbors but our upstairs neighbors were up all day and all night running around. We could hear them all the time. Nobody cleans up after their pets. Over all, for the price we paid at this complex, we were disappointed and could not wait to leave. We have a much bigger place with a yard and a garage now for almost the same price. Please do not move here, I don't want anyone to be ripped off or stolen from.
The pros: Great location, convenient to shopping, freeways and some decent restaurants. I had a 2 bed/2 bath apartment and I thought it was a nice floorplan with decent storage. Also had a wood burning fireplace and a nice sized balcony. I found the daytime office and maintenance staff friendly and responsive. The cons: believe every word written about the parking. It is atrocious. Spaces are small and your car will end up with all kinds of dents and dings. There is just no room to open a car door. There is zero visitor parking and while they will tell you there is street parking for visitors, they do not tell you how limited or far away it is. The apartment condition was ok when I moved, some sloppy painting, but generally ok. They will tell you when you move in that you will not be charged for normal wear and tear on the apartment when you move out. I also heard others being told this. Not true. You WILL be charged for some painting and cleaning regardless of what you do. Apparently nothing is considered normal wear and tear. I have never had money withheld from any rental deposit until renting here. The other joke is that you are charged a nonrefundable pet deposit and monthly pet rent-none of which will count for any of cleaning charges when you leave. Also, while pets are welcome, look carefully at where your potential apartment is. My bedroom window was right over the area residents took their dogs for bathroom use. The container for the dog poop was right under my bedroom window. Last but not least, the after hour maintenance response is horrible even though they live in the complex. We had a malfunctioning fire alarm that rang for over an hour and maintence did not respond until someone got frustrated enough to call the fire department. The following day the alarm was removed and it took 3 weeks before it was fixed. Be very careful about the location of your potential apartment, consider how far away your visitors will have to park and count on your car being damaged
