My apartment sprinkler was triggered by the built in gas fireplace and it flooded my apartment. In the process of disputing a rent charge for the 3 weeks I was displaced, Holland Residential changed ownership and went MIA. Now I can't even find a way to pay my rent online! Not only am I left with an empty apartment for at least two months and a fat rent bill but I received a general lack of compassion from management in dealing with the whole situation. They opened an apartment complex next door and sold ours. I guess they're too busy dealing with bigger and better things than to worry about the wellbeing of their tenants. I hope that the new management group, Echelon Property takes care of their tenants. And, I hope they fix the poor design choice to place a gas fireplace that has no heat escape under a heat detecting sprinkler system.
My boyfriend and I have lived at Stone Mountain for a few months now and are extremely impressed , they work well with all their tenants and the front office staff is always on point. Maintenance ROCKS!, and the price that you pay is very reasonable, we love it at stone mountain and can definitely see our self's renewing our lease.
My wife and I lived here in early 2014. I have to admit I did have some issues with the place. However, the staff was very helpful and we were able to get the issues resolved. Pretty ok!
Very poor customer service! Staff lied even though I had it in an email, they still said it meant something else. Look else where!!!
Positives: Location is convenient; right off the freeway and a fairly short walk to the Park and Ride (there is a small path that goes under the freeway, though I can see how that might be uncomfortable late at night.) Fairly quiet. We had dumbsteppy neighbors for while, but even then the walls did a decent job in containing the noise. Then again, we also live on the top floor, so that also helps. Apartments are roomy, well laid out, and look pretty nice. We got a nice view of the mountains. :) The gym is small but functional, and as long as you don't try to go in right after work hours, rarely anybody is in there. The office staff is generally friendly and eager to help. It's also across the street from a nice park, and next door to the police station and court house. There is also recycling available there. Negatives: It's a large complex, so you run into overcrowding with the amenities. The complex also has a huge mix crowd of people from different backgrounds. There are families, older folks, and younger adults. Our particular building is mainly all older people, so it's a little bit more friendly and neighborly, quiet and polite, but it sounds like we lucked out. There was an issue with the younger crowd throwing large noisy parties, or fighting in the parking lot, at 2 am. I just called the cops, and since they were right there, the problem is taken care of pretty quick. There has been a theft problem, which the complex did send a notice out for; if you don't leave anything in your car, there shouldn't be a problem. The main office can be a bit scattered, and a bit disorganized; it might be because people don't stay on there very long. I lived here two years and all the office employees were completely replaced about three times. They lost a package I had ordered, and then found it a few months later when I have already reordered everything. The access gate was never fixed the entire time I was living here and the trash compacter has been broken for awhile now. Also, the trash situation is a bit annoying; there is only one designated area for trash, and it's in the far corner of the complex. The maintenance team can have a bit of a problem getting things fixed right away. We had a toilet that kept breaking and constantly running. The guy would come in, jiggle the handle, tinker a bit and leave. And the problem was never fixed. After complaining about 4-5 times, I finally ran into the head of the maintenance team who came in personally and just replaced the whole toilet. For other things, the maintenance team has been prompt and friendly. Also, the outside of the buildings need some help; our stairs have been falling apart and the stairwell ceiling has been crumbling, so it looks a bit ghetto. Overall, it's a pretty decent place to live. It is fairly inexpensive, and the office has been very willing to work with us. When our lease came around for renewal, they kept it at the "special discount move in" rate. That might be because we have never been late with our rent or had any complaints. I didn't mind living here, and for the price, I wouldn't mind staying.
