The location is great but the rent is very high. For the price, I believe the apartment could have been much nicer. Also, they claim to have an automated payment system but when I signed up to have my rent automatically paid and it did not get paid I was charged a huge late fee. The office said they could not do anything to help me and to call the corporate office. I tried calling several time and left messages. Never had anyone call me back. This could be such a nice place if they made the residents the priority rather than the money.
I've been here for two years and have extended my contract for a 3rd year. While the price does increase a bit each year (as they do in most places), they are still slightly one of the cheaper places in this area - not by much but still. I've dealt with the office staff and maintenance a lot - they are all very friendly and attentive - concerns and most maintenance requests are resolved the next day. The maintenance team really does a great job. They are very dog and pet friendly which is awesome. The complex is large, fairly peaceful and there are many grassy areas throughout. A landscaping crew is often out here maintaining the grounds. A paved trail runs around the complex, an awesome adjacent grassland lake and through a wooded area - it also continues down Random Hills road which, in general, is peaceful - great for walks/walking a dog. They have started putting a dumpster out after the holidays for Christmas tree disposal which is extremely convenient. My only complaint is that the appliances in my unit, while they work, are a bit outdated technology and thus are a bit noisy and not very efficient. They did just replace my fridge upon request. Trash does sometimes build up at the dumpsters as people do not throw their trash completely through the chute and clog up the opening. It is always cleaned up the next day. The Fair Oaks Mall, three grocery stores and many other places are within a 5-10 min. drive. Fairfax Corner, which includes a nice large movie theater and a few restaurants, is within walking distance - directly adjacent to the complex. If I could, I'd give this place 4.5/5 - I've been really happy here.
Lived there for two years. Great service from the office and maintenance staff, anything we needed they fixed within 24 hours. Dumpster was broken sometimes, but it really did bother anyone, just dump your trash out in front of it and they had it cleared away within a day or two. Only bummer was the rent went up a bit every year. Always plenty of parking in front of our apartment. Don't listen to the whiny people, this place is fine.
With great regrets, I leave my lovely apartment here at the Reserve at FairFax Corner. I have been here for a year and leave only because I am relocating out of state. My one bedroom faced a beautiful view of the woods..able to watch fall foliage emerge from my very roomy porch. I was also lucky to have very good neighbors, most of which have been here several years. I had but a few service needs and those were met immediately by knowledgeable and professional staff. If I needed anything from the front office, Connie and Will gave it personal attention. And needless to say, the ability to walk to Fairfax Corner for shopping, restaurants and movies was definitely a plus!
I agree completely with the "real" reviews above. The best that can be said about the place, and I'm a resident, is that it is conveniently located in the center of Fairfax County and right next to Fairfax Corner. But management are low rent and very unprofessional. Here is an example: the lease stipulates a 15% late fee if paid over 5 days late. What they don't tell you is, it is 15% PER DAY/MONTH, not per year, so on a $1600 rent, that's $240! I was a day late, as I was traveling outside the country, and no excuses, no slack cut, and they won't let you speak to anyone at corporate to plead your case. Earlier this year we also got an actual rant email, because they were mad that some dog owners were not cleaning up after their pets. Truly a rant -- no exaggeration. Very unprofessional. And I don't even own a dog! I suggest, there are better places to live. I'll be gone at the end of my lease, if not sooner. Stay away.
