Very quick response for my maintenance service request. They even left a maintenance note on my door. I have lived in Lawrence for 6 years in two different rental managements. This is the first responsible and responsive management I have ever had. They deserve 5 stars and I am very satisfied they service.

I remember reading these same reviews and overlooked them because I figured I could deal with any problems that were to be expected. I was WRONG! Midwest Property Management took my money and lead me on for almost a month until I was turned down. Midwest SCAMMED me for about three weeks straight. I applied for a unit and for the next three weeks I kept checking in, almost every day, to see if I had been approved. When I called them WEEKS after I turned in the necessary forms their excuse was that they were having trouble contacting my co-signers (parents) employer. Finally once that was taken care of I heard back from them the next morning saying the unit had already been taken, after I had called them daily and paid the necessary fees. They then tried dodging the problem and instead offered to look at alternative places. I am now looking into taking legal action. No matter how desperate for a place you are, do NOT give these people your business. Even if you find your dream place for $150 a month from these people you will still regret it. If a unit is too good to be true, IT IS! If you are still not swayed, be prepared and have a backup plan. Do not put all your faith in one unit because there might be a good chance that it will be taken out from under you.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE: Made several appointment to see a variety of units; stood me up every time. Got a different story each time I called on was was available now, and what was coming open in the next few months. The whole thing ended up being a complete waste of my time and efforts. Now I have to start over with my search someplace else.

MPM was definitely my worst experience renting in Lawrence and in general. Like others have said they’ll try to scam you out of money and won’t fix anything unless you complain several times and then a half-assed effort will be made. Avoid at all costs.

Midwest Property Management is the WORST place either of my kids rented from while in Lawrence. My daughter had a big issue with brown recluse spiders in this apartment. The complex didn't take it seriously and kept saying they would come out to spray. This went on over a few week period. My daughter found at least five of these spiders, and had pictures to confirm they were brown recluse. My daughter then moved home because she couldn't stand to be in the place.Complex finally agreed to have exterminator come out. When my daughter talked to them to schedule the time, company told her it wasn't for brown recluse. They said Midwest would never admit to having those in their buildings. When they moved in, the place was absolutely filthy. There were huge holes in the doors and walls from previous tenant that apparently had anger issues. The carpet was extremely gross and absolutely nothing in the place was clean including bathrooms, refrigerator, bedroom and kitchen appliances. Inside one of the bedroom closets was a 3 foot bong that had to be removed. Now that it's time for the kids to get deposits back, Midwest is charging them with over $1000 worth of cleaning even though they left the apartment clean. This is obviously a profit center for Midwest, and they are ripping off the students at KU.
