I currently rent from Midwest and it has been a great experience! I've only had one maintenance emergency (at 10PM with family visiting) and they made it over within 30 minutes! On a Friday night! The apartment was clean when I moved in, and I've never had issues with noise or pests. I have absolutely no complaints, and always recommend MPM to friends in the area
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE: Made several appointment to see a variety of units; stood me up every time. Got a different story each time I called on was was available now, and what was coming open in the next few months. The whole thing ended up being a complete waste of my time and efforts. Now I have to start over with my search someplace else.
MPM was definitely my worst experience renting in Lawrence and in general. Like others have said they’ll try to scam you out of money and won’t fix anything unless you complain several times and then a half-assed effort will be made. Avoid at all costs.
I wish MPM had been around when I was a student at KU. For the past few years, Ben has been managing some rental properties for me while I was working overseas. I have found MPM's service to be outstanding. Everytime I asked for something to be done relative to my properties or to assist my tenants, Ben or someone from his crew helped me right away. If you are a potential renter looking for an apartment or house to rent and want to work with a good property management service, I highly recommend Midwest Property Management. Hint: If you want good service from a management service, be a good tenant. If you are a property owner looking for someone to manage your property, consider yourself lucky to have come across Midwest Property Management. I recommend Ben and his Midwest Property Management with no reservations.
Before renting any property managed by this company I would strongly encourage you to read their reviews on Google. I certainly wish I had. We moved my daughter into one of their properties last fall and it was nearly uninhabitable. After a call to notify the management of the problem they sent cleaners who did a minimal surface wipe down. Throughout the year when the air conditioning quit, when we discovered black mold and brown recluse spiders the company was unresponsive to maintenance requests. Following a thorough cleaning when we moved my daughter out the company sent us a letter notifying us that not only would we not get any of our deposit back but that they were assessing additional cleaning charges above and beyond our deposit. We've rented from a number of companies in Lawrence over the past several years and never experienced anything like this. Look at their Facebook page and you will not find any negative criticism of the company. They immediately delete any negative posts. This is not a reputable company and I would strongly recommend you look elsewhere.
