I stayed there for a short period of time and it was Ok... Ok.... The worst part was when I vacated. I have deposited $400 for security. And I was told that I will get it back when I will vacate. Everything was fine when I vacated, I also asked them to send someone to check the things were fine. No one came. After some days back I got a e-mail with full and final statement in that there were some general deductions which was fine. But I was shocked to see a deduction of $125 for carpet damage. When I vacated everything was fine, I don't know what was that. That also I digested somehow ... As part of settlement I was supposed to get a refund of about $100 from the security deposit. And 10 months have passed still following up for the refund. I was told that they will send it to my India address. For there sake I asked them to mail it to one of my friend in US, I'll get the check deposited from him. They said they will ship it to my India address. After so many follow-up mails no revert and no reply from calls in the office timings. Anybody please suggest some consumer forum for some needful action against them.
I stayed in Birchwood for 1 year. Always think it was very wrong decision that I selected this apartment. There is no patio, no AC, no storage, no safety. Very old houses/fixtures. Due to thin walls it's either too cold in winter or too hot in summer. All windows have air gap, so the apartment is chilled as you feel outside. Also, there have been theft from the car from the parking lot and when you complain they will ask you to report to police. Whenever someone complains to the leasing office for such incidence then they will say this the first incidence, they will never accept that its always happening there. Also, one of the most worst thing is its Laundry system in the apartment. They have more than 250 apartments and for that there is total of 6 washers and 6 dryers. So, whenever you go you need to stand in queue. I was always thinking it as lottery system. Also, if you keep clothes for washing and if you are late by 2-3 minutes to take out those washed clothes someone will throw your clothes to dusty platform in the laundry. This way they have tie-up with some laundry company to enforce each apartment to take laundry on rent. Also, on each lease renewal they will increase rent by 10%. Last year when I leased the rent was $1595 + utilities , and this year they offered a me new rent as $1740 + utilities. It’s the same what they are offering to new residents. Totally worst apartment to stay.
Havent lived there, but once visited it. Apartment seems relatively cheaper, and close to lots of Indian restaurants and grocery stores in Sunnyvale.
I stayed there for 6 years, endured cold winter nights as the heater is poorly situated only in the sala, and the windows are not double pane. It was the washer and dryer that attracted us. The apartment is just okay for the price for those not so demanding. I witnessed 4 managers come and go during my stay, and I got the worst treatment by the Manager who just assumed position a few weeks before I vacated. I never had any late payment for my 6 years stay and a miscommunication (both parties' fault) with the last Manager about a check on my last payment resulted to threats of suing already by the manager, despite the presence of deposit and an open and honest communication. I was blasted with severe penalties, late fees, apartment cleaning (I used carpet for 6 years, same wall/ceiling paintings for 6 years, what cleaning could this be?) I escalated issue to Corporate, who has been very unresponsive. While waiting for Corporate's response, I was not even given even a single call that an amount far less than the apartment cleaning, even less than a hundred bucks will be sold to collection agency who immediately reported to all credit bureaus both myself and my wife without contacting me (they claimed they sent mails to my previous address). Birchwood, and in general Woodmont Corporate is managed by money hungry people surrounded by powerful lawyers who would care less for you no matter how long you stayed with their property. Stay away from these properties.
I lived there for 6 months with a friend. Apartments are good and spacious enough as per the need I think. Very near to everything...yes price is little too high, however looking at the easy access to other stuff i would go an pay for that. I never needed to contact manager for anything ever, though i feel wasn't a problem with people there...not sure about who was there in 2009 :) Planning to move back to those apartments if found any apartment available.
