I've lived here 18 months now. At first, I LOVED it. People were friendly, the place was nice and quiet, all bills were paid, and everything worked except the security gate, which I was assured would be repaired. After nearly a year, it finally was. In the last 3-4 months, there has been a STEEP decline in my living situation here. I'm not sure if people aren't being screened as well or what, but I now have new neighbors with yipping dogs, upstairs neighbors who throw massive amounts of cigarette butts from the rail to shower down in front of my door, car alarms blaring at all hours, etc. A bad storm destroyed parts of our covered parking awnings and those have yet to be fixed. My parking space is so far back in a corner that now, without the light working there, it doesn't really feel safe to park in it if I come home very late. Not only that, but because the numbers over the parking spot were ripped off in the wind, cars have been parked in my space multiple times. Several months later this is still not repaired. For the last two weeks, the complex has been without heat because the boiler needed a new part. For some reason, the part couldn't be overnighted so it took nearly a week for the part to arrive. Now we're all STILL waiting for the boiler to be repaired. There are "back up" small wall heaters but they are insufficient to warm even my small apartment (and I like the cold, so I can only imagine what our elderly residents or those with kids are going through). Tonight, what prompted me to write this review is that half of the power has gone out in my apartment for the second time in two weeks. So on top of everything else, I'm now concerned about wiring. I shiver as I type this in the dark, by the way. Oh, and bonus, my oven door handle fell off last week. To be fair, Dawn in the front office is great and super helpful. I feel like she's doing the best she can with the situation, but she's not the actual manager of the place. PROS: My apartment is small, but it's cute. There's a fireplace and wood flooring and since I'm only one person, I don't need a ton of space. All bills are included in rent, but even there I have an issue. When I moved in (and even on my lease) it included cable and internet. Then, 4 months after, I guess the complex terminated their contract with Cox so now tenants pay for their own. Other tenants got a concession from management but I did not. Apparently, I was too new?? Then, my whole first year, it would seem no one was actually spraying for bugs or doing fire safety inspections in my apartment (even though I was getting notices taped to my door every other month or so) because as I found out one day when I had a maintenance issue, THEY DID NOT HAVE A KEY. I ended up having to give my key to a new worker to go and have a copy made. I was then told they fired the maintenance guy who had been here for what I can only assume would be falsifying reports that he'd been doing these checks. I WANT to like it here. I WANT to be safe and happy. I pay my rent early or on time every single month. I want the living conditions I pay for. Sadly, if they aren't fixed soon and the conditions back up to standard, I'm going to have to move. (By the way, as I was typing this, I got a text message from Dawn that it will be at least three more days before we have heat again). I used to really like it here. This bums me out.
The apartments are clean, nice and peaceful. The only "noise" is kids playing outside. It's nice to live some where safe. The pool is always clean, the maintenance is quick to fix anything to breaks and very friendly. Not to mention the rent rate is a great deal! I'd suggest this place to anyone.
I agree with ALL other reviews before mine. ~~ Here are some things you should know before you move in! Please think about these things before you move your family in there. ~~CONS~~ -The designs of the apartments are great, but management is too cheap to keep them livable. -The maintenance guys there are as sweet as can be, if anything They should be the ones running this place. They don't get enough tools to work with, probably thanks to the cheap management, which means they often have to paint over defects or fix things with paper clips. Management makes them do Everything and blames them if anything goes wrong. -Stairs on some sides of the apartments are unstable. The ones closest to the office work Just fine to trick you into falling for this hell hole, but the ones on the "cheaper" (small apartments) side of the place just go unnoticed. The handle bars are scarily shaky which means you can't grab onto anything while going up some stairs. I'm certain that someone will fall through those crumbling concrete steps at some point as well. -I have never been SO SICK in my life than I have been after living at these apartments! If you have asthma, lung issues, anything like that, this place is too old for you. There are things under these walls that I'm afraid to even think about. And management? Hahaha, they will just paint right over All of it! -The AMENITIES ARE A LIE and not as great as they appear to be! They are Cheap or Non-existent. -The workout room doesn't work and obviously hasn't in years. The two treadmills hardly work because the belts at the bottom are barely in working condition and the ellipticals are from '95 with NO power or resistance! It's ALL a scam. And management will charge the poor tenants for All Of This this while cashing in Your hard-earned money. -Pool is ALWAYS over-chlorinated or too dirty. Someone Professional needs to test the water because it's probably Acidic. I wouldn't let my children swim in it. -Fire hazards!!! There is only One entrance/exit that is open at all times. I guarantee you there will be a time when you almost get in a wreck while trying to drive in or out. Plus, if this place ever went down in flames, you and your family are the ones who will have to pay for this, Not the cheap management. This place is hardly gated, so is it really worth your life in an emergency situation? (Who knew a gated community would be more of a con than a pro?) -Value seems good at first. It's originally what brought me here, but after spending some time here I realized how much money they are actually making from all of the poor fools that still live there. -This place is on it's way to being CONDEMNED. Remember that before you move in. CRUMBLING STRUCTURES, cockroaches, dust, MOLD, other BUGS, it all exists here. Inside your home. I even had a nest of baby spiders living in my house. -Management doesn't care about you. They won't remember your name because they just want your money. Now I will find it in my heart to find some positive things about this place. ..............~~PROS~~ All bills paid. Elderly Friendly! If you're an older person, the management will treat you better than anyone else living here. You'll still have to pay for it, though. There's almost always available units. But please, I want you to think again on Why they always have available units. Family and Kid friendly too! There were lots of other kids around for mine to play with. Pool is open til 10PM and past labor day, etc. Which is Great; That is, if you decide that you actually want to swim in it... Very Pet friendly! Cats & Large Dogs are welcome! Ideal for SHORT-TERM housing. (6 months) Then get out as soon as possible if you want to keep your money and Sanity!
If you are under the age of 40 do not move here. Unless you like being treated like a snout nose brat just out of high school. Between the infestation of cockroaches, people allowing their animals to roam freely, and not picking up after them, people parking in fire lanes, blocking emergency exits. The complex turned into a dump very fast. Management is lazy and will lie to you to get you to sign a lease. Once you are on a lease they will ignore you. We even caught management deleting our maintenance requests. It got so bad we spend two weeks without cable or internet. All because management refused to call Cox to have a tech come out. When we found another complex they could not approve us as tenants because meridian's management refused to get the new complex our rental history because we had not given management a thirty day notice. Apparently management wants you to give a thirty day notice and then look for a new place. Also management started harassing us when we started moving. We gave management a thirty day notice and started moving out that weekend. It took us a week to move out because my husband works odd hours and we were also cleaning the place up before we handed in the keys. A week after we gave a thirty day notice management was demanding the keys even though we legally still had the apartment for another month
I'm praying that this place can get it's act together.
