To anyone thinking of moving here, this is my honest opinion. I lived here 9 months prior to being the victim of burglary at Newport. Expect things not to function properly.(electric outlets, water leak, etc) Management is okay for the most part, though I wouldn't trust any of them, especially not the maintenance guy.(rubs me the wrong way. i.e. shady) I'd come home after work only to find the outside light on even though I left it off.(again shady) Don't trust your neighbors, a lot of them are watching you, and I imagine quite a few have some level of criminal intent or connection directly or indirectly. The back alleys are poorly lit and allow any shady a-hole to go unnoticed. It's not safe place to live, too many shady elements and no security. You can do better for not much more money. I regret not doing so. Lesson learned.
The actual units are not that bad,...if you have issues at all though the management will do nothing!! Also they have so many loop holes trying to get as much money out of renters as they possibly can! And there lease is bs, was told by a lawyer it is , and easy to get out of if you want to pay a lawyer which would be cheaper than paying all there fees for leaving before a lease us up. I would not recommend to anyone
My boyfriend moved here and on the first day, as we are unpacking his things, we find a roach crawling in the kitchen. During the daytime! (Common sign of infestation) He let the management know, and they assured him that the problem would be solved. Over the entire 6months that he stayed there, there were roaches everywhere! The problem was never solved and he never felt comfortable enough to bring his furniture into the apartment. Also, one day he came home to find that his TV was missing. This place is a horrible, disgusting place. Do not move here if you value comfort.
For the money it's what you get. Everything else around that is better is also significantly more expensive. There's no playground, no washer and dryer in the unit, no workout room, etc. It has the basics covered though. The apartment smelled (previous renter was a smoker, I think), but there are no bugs, scorpions, etc. That's a huge relief! Overall, it's okay. I wouldn't want to live here for an extended period of time, but for a year or two it's working for me.
Newport Apartments in Avondale is a pretty cool place to live. A good community that is pretty diverse, a CLEAN pool (that people actually use), close shopping, and it's really close to my school (EMCC) which is super convenient. Being close to the freeway (while not being right next to it) is pretty great, too. The leasing girl in the office, Angel, is a super cool chick. Very friendly and professional. All in all, it's a pretty great place to call home, and I definitely recommend checking out Newport if you are looking for something in the middle of the west valley, close to pretty much everything, with a good vibe and at the right price.
