Just moved in and found out it's infested with roaches. After i asked the leasing office if there was a problem before i moved in. They wont let me break my lease. This is the worst. I've bombed twice, sprayed, and more. They keep coming. Looking for lawyers now.
We initially moved in May 2012, moved out June 2015. Rent started at $595, and ended at $830. The 1st week there, we had roaches. We called, 3 days later they sprayed...still had roaches. We had roaches the entire stay. Aside from living with bugs, the neighborhood is sketchy. Other tenants did not want to pay for a magnet key (have to use for the main door), so someone took the entire door off the hinges. Parents in the complex do not discipline or parent their children thus resulting in kids spraying the fire extinguishers all over the lobby OR pulling the fire alarms for the hell of it. (Even the fire department is tired of The Crossing as they visited us every 2 weeks on average.) We even had someone deficate under the stairwell during the summer of 2014. The smell was horrid. Other horrendous smells: the maintenance crews golf carts - batteries smell like rotten eggs, and the carts are parked in your complex. This happened multiple times. Our neighbors to the right of us were always fighting, so with the thin walls, you could hear everything. Eventually, they were arrested and evicted. We had 4 different neighbors during our duration there. Management posted signs on our doors saying such things like "Please stop peeing in the elevator," or "Please do not pile trash in the hallway." People were apparently too lazy to walk behind the complex to throw away their trash, so they left it in the hallway...which of course caused bugs. The apartment was advertised with 'heating and cooling' but it should read 'heating or cooling.' The complex is so old (1960s) that it only has 1 setting: air or heat. The downside to this -- in June 2014, management still had the heat on as the temps were in the mid-low 70s with a day or two in the mid 80s. Opening the windows didn't help. At one point, our apartment was at 92* inside and we had no access to the AC. I kept complaining to management and at the end of June, the AC was on. We were MISERABLE! At one point, there was a leak in the bathroom (shower). Once we called management, maintenance came over and took apart our shower. 3 days later, they came back. 3 DAYS WITHOUT WATER. We ended up staying in a hotel for 2 days and they would not reimburse us for it. Lastly, there was a shooting at The Crossing in July 2015. It's DEFINITELY not a place you want to live. Trust me.
DO NOT MOVE HERE!!! The apartments are infested with roaches and bed bugs. The leasing office put my husband and I as an eviction even after completing our lease and even getting back our deposit and now are refusing to fix there mistake which has cost us thousands had to call the police in order for them to give us a letter stating that we are not an eviction. Absolutly ridiculous management who only care about the money and not the people that live here.
They want me to take my 1500 dollar bike off the patio ( The only thing I have there) and put it on their metal bike rack outside, 4 buildings away from mine!! I got a letter on my door that if I don't comply they will throw it away and charge me 50 dollars !! Lisa VanVelkinburgh the community manager does not care about the tenants who pay to stay here she's more like a prison warden !!!
My apartment is not infested with Roaches the only way it would be is if you don't clean up after your self. If you are invested they will get someone to spray your apartment! Very affordable!
