Pretty solid living experience, overall. Convenient downtown location in a pretty safe part of downtown. Now, there were reports of two armed robberies in the area in the fall of 2014. However, I didn't hear of any other major incidents for the rest of the year. The building is solidly constructed and has concrete walls on all sides of the apartment. Therefore, when you're in your apartment, you hardly ever hear any noise from the adjoining units. The doors are pretty thin, however. Therefore, you will hear people in the halls as they go in and out of their apartments. They should install heavier doors. Maintenance staff is great. Trustworthy too. They were in my apartment several times and nothing ever came up missing. The concierges at this building are nicer and more helpful than most concierges at large apartment buildings. One guy named Al is particularly cool. There is a pool area that, while small, is pretty nice and well maintained. The problem, however, is that it is teeming with college kids. Any time the weather is nice they flood (pun intended) the pool and surrounding areas. Furthermore, they can get a little out of hand on the weekends. Utilities are quite high here. You don't pay for what you use. Rather, the utility company bills the entire building and they they use a formula to determine your share of the utilities that is based on your apartment size and, presumably, how many people live in your apartment. As a result, people have little incentive to watch their utility consumption. The upshot is sky-high bills, easily some of the biggest I've ever seen. The A/C doesn't work very well. They even recharged mine and I don't think the apartment ever got cooler than 73 degrees. For people in their late-twenties and above, please note that the management company caters to college kids. It's not too much of a problem because the apartments are so sound-proof, but, like most college kids, they can be a little obnoxious at times, especially after they have been drinking. When I started writing this review, I had given the building four stars. But then it dawned on me that the fire alarm at the building is extremely sensitive and went off at least once a month although the most "serious" fire we had was a trash chute fire (likely set by an immature, inebriated college kid) that threatened no one. The alarm is frighteningly loud. After it had gone off a few times (frequently in the middle of the night), I began to have a hard time winding down for bed lest I be jolted out of bed by that blaring noise again. I actually lowered the rating to three starts because of that glitch. In the county where I reside now, the building is not evacuated unless the fire department orders it. They need to have a similar procedure in place there or something.
Great summer environment! Close to the night live and not hard to get to from outside the city
Just moved in last week and so far I am absolutely loving it here! My apartment looks great, the staff has been a pleasure to work with, and the location downtown is killer! Highly recommend for anyone looking to move to the city!
The staff and concierge are all so nice. I truly feel safe and at home here when I go visit my friends.
I just moved here to work at Quicken and these apartments are awesome! They are right downtown, I can walk to Tiger Stadium (love baseball), and a ton of cool bars including Hockeytown Cafe. Valerie the sales manager is great when it comes to answering questions about the apartments and the area. So far the rest of the staff has been pretty helpful as well. I would highly recommend this place!
