Well, it is an experience. Lipstick on a pig here. Nastiest group of folks I ever saw. Natalie is the exception. You complain the 20th time about maintenance not done..."you're here every weekend, it ruins my weekend. You know I can't do anything about it. " hmmm, try fixing things, not charging people for routine maintenance items from shoddy construction with Uber cheap materials. How you could honestly say some one did anything to a place with spray painted burners, counters, floors, carpet so cheap it looks stained and worn under the sofa! Gas fireplace never works, windows leak air so badly curtains blow in the wind with windows shut. Cannot get account to cool below 78 running full boar 24/7. When you complain about that "are you sleeping upstairs? with huge eye-rolling. It only has to bev20degrees cooler than outside to be working correctly. " so 80 degrees, humid and 600 $a month electric bill it is. advertised as gated community, view not ever seen all the gates work at once. Broken lamp post, wires bolts sticking out of ground, I tripped on it broke my tailbone. In pain for the rest of my life. Can't do what I used to do for fun, or for work. Sincerely the quality of life here is terrible. 3rd management team in 2 years, each progressively worse. Quality of neighborhood significantly declining. The town house below me has had 4 occupants in 2.5:years. No one I knew here last year still lives here. No wonder so manyvempties. The mouse infestation that ruined all my things, neighborhood boys use and tear up or vandalize the amenities we pay for. Don't try to go to the gym, it's full of stinky, foul mouthed teen boys who leave trash, spit, bring girls and have sex, carve offensive racial language into basketball court floor, break into former office accessing master keys, rip down exit signs, tear light switches off the wall, break windows, turn heat to 90, take possession of the gym for hours every evening. The list seriously goes on, cussing, screaming, dribbling ball up and down the road all day and night, people coming whopping and hollering like they are not in a residential area waking you up to load into the ball court. None of these folks even live here. Door lock broken more than a year. Cop allowed to live here discounted rent, but mngmnt tells you " it's not to protect residents, visit to protect our property." Run,run run! !!
Doesn't even deserve one star! Awful parking situation. The streets were salted poorly in the winter. Inconsiderate neighbors. Despite noise complaints made to management, nothing was done about my very loud upstairs neighbor. My husband's car was backed into and damaged (no note was left). My car was vandalized by a "neighbor". No one knows how to park in that complex! Way too expensive. Per square foot the rent was ridiculous. The "gated community" gates were almost always broken- and actually malfunctioned once causing a great amount of damage to my friend's car- management did NOT care. We lived here for one loooong year. 2013-2014 If you are looking here, keep looking. If you live here, I am sorry, get out!
The Bad: Bed Bugs. Rodent infestations. Serious lack of parking. Frequent Billing Issues (Over Charges, Double Charges, Cancelled Payments Resulting in erroneous late fees) Poor Maintenance, Takes months and multiple work orders to get most things fixed. Unconcerned management. "Gated Community", however the gates are frequently broken and left open. Have had several vehicles broken into, stuff stolen and some vehicles vandalized. The Good: Decent Location. Shuttle Bus to the Metro. Floor Plans are well designed. Other tenants are friendly. Pet Friendly. Would not recommend.
Bees, wasps, and thermostat issues. I am renting The Devon on the top floor of one of the apartment buildings they have here. I have had nothing but issues with the thermostat in my apartment since I moved in. The heat will turn on by itself even when the thermostat is set to OFF and my selected temperature is at 60 degrees. It will constantly heat the apartment until the temperature is above 85 degrees making it impossible to get a good night's sleep. Every night I would wake up covered in sweat, but with the air so dry I can barely swallow. I contacted their maintenance department more than a dozen times about this problem and they were never able to fix it. The other issues is that there is a fire place in my apartment, but IT DOESN'T HAVE A FLUME! So my apartment is either freezing because all the hot air is escaping through the fire place, or it is 85+ degrees and dry as a desert. I had to end up just dealing with the problem until spring when they finally changed the A/C from heating to cooling. Now that it's warmer out however, I have discovered an even bigger problem. This apartment building is also seasonally the home to hundreds of wasps, honey bees, and carpenter bees. They like to make their homes right outside the balcony that every apartment has. I have contacted maintenance, the leasing office, and the general manager (Douglas Crawford). They have some kind of contract with Orkin because of how often this happens. However, their contract doesn't cover carpenter bees and I have been told by Douglas Crawford that, AGAIN, I am just going to have to "deal" with this infestation of bees occupying my balcony because they don't want to pay the extra money to exterminate them. When I insisten that I would not be paying for a balcony I couldn't use, Douglas Crawford replied with the following email: "The square footage [of the balcony] is not counted in your rent. The rent is based on the square footage of your apartment. You can not with hold rent for an issue that does not impede on living in your apartment." Seven minutes later I get another email from Douglas Crawford: "I also wanted to follow up with you because I noticed that you have unregistered cats in your apartment. Animals are required to be registered and there are fees that have to be paid if you keep these animals in your apartment. Please let me know when you will be registering your cats with us. There is a maximum of two pets per apartment." So he comes to my apartment to check out the infestation of bees on my balcony, doesn't fix it, but also won't let me deduct the square footage of the balcony from my apartment. And then he proceeds to inform me that on top of having to play $1675/mo for the (now) 886sqft (941sqft - 55sqft balcony), I will now have to pay a THOUSAND DOLLAR DEPOSITE and another $70/mo for the two small cats I own. Whatever you do, DO NOT RENT AN APARTMENT FROM TOWN SQUARE AT MARK CENTER!
