I've been a resident here for 3+ years, and it has been a very good/above average rental experience. Nice floor plans, most w/garages, upscale interior design and comfortable/livable spaces. Safe and quiet---most of the time, anyway, except for the kids, who, because of a lack of walkways, opens spaces or playground, end up playing in the streets right under neighbors windows, which can be quite annoying. Clean/well-kept public spaces/green area's---except for the inconsiderate dog owners, who for some inexplicable reason, are too lazy to pick up their dog's piles of crap. Pricey? Yup. But then it's So OP, after all. Extremely convenient, though---right on Metcalf half-way between the 151st and 135th corridors w/multiple grocery stores, shopping centers and dining options all within 5-10 minutes, and e-z access to Hwy 69. One more down-side....these are all electric units, so really high energy bills in the summer and winter (I bought some shares of KCPL stock after seeing my first heating bill). Overall, a really nice place to live, particularly by OP/JoCo apartment 'standards'--there's far worse places, that's for sure.
I thought it couldn't get any better living here but Friday night it did. I wanted to go to be early to get a good's night rest and beat this horrible head cold I am fighting. Just about the time I crawled under the covers the smoke detector in my bedroom started chirping. I knew it meant the battery needed replacing. But not having a new battery handy nor a chair highest enough to reach the unit I couldn't replace it. There was no way I could sleep with that constant noise. Even though this was not a life threatening issue, I called the Lionsgate emergency maintenance number and left a message. Within 5 minutes Chris called me back. When I told him my problem he said, "I'll be right there." Within 10 minutes Chris was there. He cheerfully replaced the battery and all was quiet. I got a great night's rest and feeling much better. That is what I call SERVICE and wonderful CUSTOMER RELATIONS--thank you Chris and Lionsgate management for taking such great care of your residents!
We have lived here for a year and love the space we have. The layout of the apartment is perfect for our needs. We've had some trouble reaching maintenance staff when needed but other than that we have been very happy with the complex. My boyfriend was laid off last month. There was an amendment in our lease that would reduce the rent for three months if one of us lost our jobs. My boyfriend went into the office and notified them that he was laid off. The office advised that they would check into the process and call him. They never called. He went back into the office to follow-up and the office advised that they "don't do that program anymore". It feels like a bait and switch. Very disappointing.
Love living here. Moved here six weeks ago when my company relcoated to Overland Park. So far it has been a great experience. After reading a tenant review complaining about the heating costs, I was living in fear of my first electric bill. It arrived today and was $30 less than I anticipated it would be and we have had some extremely cold weather. I have had a couple things that needed to be fixed and the management has responded quickly to get them done. I am glad there is no curbside parking allowed because it keeps our streets easy to navigate. I love the architecture. When I look out my window I feel like I am living in a quaint English village. Would highly recommend renting here. Marjorie Schofield, Office Manager at Walsworth Yearbooks
Very disappointed with the staff of this complex. I have had the displeasure of working with the office staff on a couple of issues with my unit over the past year. Each time the maintenance person was to be at my unit, they were either an hour plus late or did not show at all. The office staff both times (completely different staff both times) said they were sorry, but showed no real concern to resolve issues with maintenance. The next major issue is that the units are severely energy inefficient. I was out of town for 5 days, had nothing running other than the heat, which was set at 54 degrees, and my electric bill for those days was still over $4.50 per day. The positives are that the units are nice and there are garages for each unit, but I do not think that they are worth what Lionsgate charges monthly. Needless to say I will not stay past my current lease and would not recommend to anyone.
