The only thing the Fillmore Center has going for it is it is located in a central location in San Francisco. The complex is located next to a not so good part of town and it bleeds over in the area. I have friends that are frightened to visit. Their security is there but not staffed accordingly to facilitate such a large complex. Cars have been broken into in "Secure Parking" several times. The facilities smell bad. The stairs smell like urine the halls like smoke. Often times there are people smoking in the stairwell. Amenities you pay for have been shutdown for half the year. They are renovating the BBQ area but gave no notice and they are closed for 4-5 months. They are hard to get a hold of if you need to. They have a shuttle to financial but it often doesn't show up. It is a pain when you have to be to work and the shuttle just doesn't show up. They have decided to institute a new fee for an ID system for then shuttle and they pass the cost to you. They try and raise the rent astronomical amounts after your first year. 7-10% They nickel and dime you with hidden fees. When they sell it it sounds great. Then you live here and you realize it isn't.
The Fillmore Center has great eating spots were you can go with friends and have fun. Yes, it is not in a very good area but if you don't mess with any one you will be OK.
Beautiful square, but in a bad neighborhood.
Not in the best area but not easy to get to.
If you're confused.... about the reviews here, trust me, I understand. I think the Fillmore center has made a few changes over the years... i'm not sure, but I remember feeling really confused about a lot of the reviews when I was looking at moving into this place. SO I hope this helps clear up some of the issues people have complained about. I have been living here for 3 months. Its not bad! I will list the pros and cons Pros- -great amenities: my studio has a washer/dryer, dishwasher, and microwave. not too shabby. - Its pretty quiet. I can hardly hear my neighbors. The walls are concrete. I have yet to ever have a noise complaint. -I like the trash shoot. very convenient. -the building stays pretty clean and nice. Cool elevators too. Feels like a big hotel kind of. -very pet friendly! I love seeing all the dogs running around and my cats like it too :) -The carpet, even though it is white, is very easy to clean. I can scrub up ANY stain on this carpet, which i really like. -The staff is friendly and maintenance is really nice and helpful! My washer was leaking and they came the same day and fixed it right up! Very friendly and polite. I was really satisfied with that. -Unlike the rest of SF, this place is easy to move into. They have many apartments and lots of room. So if you're moving to the city you might want to consider this place if you have the money. CONS: -The walls are concrete so its close to impossible to decorate or hang things. We planned on mounting our TV but this just wasn't safely possible. -The FIRE ALARMS! After only 3 months of living here I PRAY that the fire alarms do not go off again any time soon. it is ridiculously loud and my cats get sick bc it scares them so much. :( horribly loud! -The location is stuck right between good and bad. Stay away from South Fillmore ST, but head up North and you will have a fun time. So its both good and bad, just don't be a jerk about it and you'll be fine. -I DO feel the price is a bit high for this small amount of space. I wish I was paying a bit less. All in all, this place is pretty good. I don't regret living here, I am not surprised by any monthly bills (like other reviewers said) the location is OK, and the staff is pleasant. Be mindful that the city is FULL of homeless people but this isnt a reflection of this specific area or apartment. Don't leave your windows open if you're on the first floor for people to enter, don't leave your doors unlocked (although you can set it to lock automatically when closed and the building is always relatively secured), and understand your leasing contract and you should be fine.
