This apartment complex would be great if they had more cardio machines - mainly Treadmills. Considering the amount the rent is, you figure they'd be able to afford more than 3 treadmills (one of which is ALWAYS broke). Also - the doors are almost broke. There are multiple people who have access to the parking lot so that means that random people have access to our apartment complex. Doesn't seem very safe to me. Doors on G2 and G3 are constantly broke/open...there has to be something that management can do about this.

Once they get you to sign the lease, they don't care about fixing things up in your place. You are just a number who pays rent. Ben and others there are great. They run the reception area well. However, when it comes to selling, vs having people happy, it's all about selling. Get you to sign a lease, -then ignore you. We agreed on 6 things they would fix or improve in my apartment. Based on that hand-written list, and my understanding that they were agreeing to fix these items, I signed the lease. I moved in, and to this day, they have STILL never fixed those 6 things. 4+ months later. I have complained over 20 times. They then come up with excuses: oh, so & so doesn't approve of that. Oh, we'll do that when it's warmer out (Hey, it was Warmer Out when I Signed The Lease). If you are not picky about your place, and you want an upscale boring apartment complex, with the office staff being predominantly sales reps who don't care about you once you signed a lease, then this is a nice enough place. Watchout: anything you thought you agreed to: 1) If it was improvements to the apartment, get them done BEFORE you agree to move in, 2) get them in writing, with a due date and a signature.

I lived in a studio at Crystal Square for 4.5 years and had a very good experience. The apartment was big for a studio, had 2 doors, and a lot of storage space. I had a lot of light throughout the year. When I moved in the appliances were new. The only issue was that the cool-down period of the dryer was very long and lasted hours. However, if you leave for work in the morning and activate the washer, you will be able to open it when you are back in the evening. The location is great because it is just above the metro station downstairs. I could check the next metro arrival on internet and avoid wasting time waiting on the platform. I did not own a car and could get any of the many zipcars that are located very close to the building. The only issue is that the entrance is on 15th street and sometime people using a gps do not notice it. When I took the supershuttle to go the Dulles airport I always had to write specific instructions for the driver. BTW the national airport is just one metro stop away and you can literally arrive at your gate in 15 min. when there is no line at the security checkpoint. There's a rite aid in the mall downstairs which was very convenient to buy milk and water that are heavy to carry for a long distance. The Pentagon Mall and a Harris Teeter are within walking distance or 1 metro stop away. Going to DC by metro is very convenient: 20 min to Foggy Bottom, 10 min. to Gallery Place. They reduced blue line trains due to the silver line project, but the frequency is still OK. The area is super safe. I lived on the Jefferson Davis Hwy side at street level and never had any issue. BTW the apartment was very quite. The management and the staff have always been kind, courteous, and helpful. I needed the assistance maintenance team few times and they always did an awesome job.

I have lived here for 4 months. So far, so good. It's an older building but the appeal to me was all the closet space and location. Compared to other buildings in the area I looked at, I believe I am getting more for my money. There is always plenty of parking in the garage. It's well lit and I have observed roving security at various times of day and night. It's a pet friendly building. If you're a dog owner, you'll love it! Plenty of Fido friends for your dog. I have witnessed one dog accident since I've lived here and the owner immediately cleaned it up. Additionally, I see cleaning staff in the lobby daily. The front desk stafff is usually nice. Darryl especially. He and the management staff are always seen chatting with residents. The location is fantastic! 4 min walk to Crystal City metro, underground. 2 min walk to rite-aid if you need anything quickly. ATM machine right at the underground entrance. The carpet in the apartments are a bit old and stained. But mine wasn't terrible. My balcony is HUGE!! I love the updated cabinets in the kitchen and the big pantry/storage space. Not a fan of the washer/dryer in one combo, but they have laundry rooms on every other floor. So I usually wash in my apt then dry in the laundry room, if I'm in a rush. They have gas stoves which I am a fan of. There are separate temp units for the bedroom and the rest of the apt. So I can keep my room warm in the winter without having to make the rest of the place the same temp. The walls are pretty well insulated. I can play my music at a fairly high decibel and no one hears it unless standing in front of my door. I don't hear my neighbors unless they are vacuuming. Elevators work well and are fast. Key fob entry is nice and adds a touch of security. Oh! For you coffee drinkers, there's a free starbuck's coffee machine in the lobby. I also forgot to mention the full size pool. The pool was closed when I moved in, but it seems really nice. The gym is pretty decent too. Not of fan of the 1990s printer they have in the business center, but it's there if you need it and it usually works. The computers are a little antiquated and slow, but they get the job done too. There's a little reading room if you're into that sorta thing. My tub drain is a bit slow which can be annoying, but nothing terrible. I had one issue with my disposal leaking. Maintenance arrived and took care of it within a few hours. Overall, I've been satisfied with my stay here and would recommend the apartments to anyone looking.

If you want to spend a year being treated like crap and wishing you would have lived somplace else, then by all means rent here. This place is an absolute nightmare. Seriously, I would rather sleep in a cardboard box than sign with these clowns again. The apartments are big, but that is literally the only positive thing which can be said, and it does not come close to making up for all of the gigantic downsides. I made the mistake of signing the lease because I did not have time to be searching anymore. It was a massive mistake. The management is incompetent, condescending, and totally unconcerned with any concerns of renters. Every step of the way from signing the lease to moving out, I have been mistreated and misled. Despite the horrendous treatment, the management is completely unapologetic and seems to think they are doing they jobs quite well. The "amenities" which are shown on tours are often not functioning or are completely unavailable. For example, the "starbucks" machine with free coffee is often turned off. The free printers often are out of paper or ink. Worst of all, no one cares to do anything to fix it. Please don't make the same mistake I did, and AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
