Maintenance: Is very poor. I called in for mole infestation, and they just told us to clean it myself. Then our bathroom ceiling was leaking, I had to call maintenance 5 times before they fixed it. Facilities: The only treadmill in the workout room was broken, and we can't use it for many months . I told the main office, and they said they are getting a new one. There is a very small hot bath tub, but because of weather, how regularly its get broken & it's awkward position of being in the center of all the apt housing, its better not to have it instead. Interior of Rooms: Our main closet door is broken, half of our kitchen cabinet closing mechanic is broken, the stove ventilation system is not working. DON'T be fooled by the brand new rooms displayed in the TV screens in the main office. Apartment Policies: The apartment has some very harsh policies such as if you get a new lease with 2 other roommates, 1 of the 3 original occupants can never leave or move out. This is a hassle for me and my roommates as some of my former roommates moved due to graduation, work & other reasons. So I am the only original occupant, if I move out all my current roommates has to move out too & get a new lease. Having cats and dogs requires about a 1000 USD pet fee. Parking: The parking system here is messed up. My gf came over on a weekend to visit me, and she parked in the guest parking lot. After a couple hour, we found her car was towed. We called the towing company, had to get a cab & pay about 250 USD to get back the car. Eventually, we realized some people park their vehicle either without a parking permit, expired permit & in handicap spots, but yet they did not get towed. I gave it a 2 star because this place is very close to campus and the rent is reasonably cheap for three of us.
My parents came into town to visit me. They arrived late at night on a Friday. When my parents were going to help me out on on getting groceries the next morning, we found that their car was towed away late at night. This happened sometime at night after 10:00. There was no notice or anything indicating that the car was towed, so we thought that the car had gotten stolen. This is just a tip of the Iceberg on the type of stuff this apartment complex pulls on students just trying to get by on living in Flagstaff. They also like to charge a wave of fees upon move out and find any little thing broken or wrong with the apartment to charge you. I would highly recommend someone to live elsewhere.
Since changing management, Aspen Leaf Apartments (formerly Forest Heights) has become a wonderful place to live. The office staff is friendly and helpful. I have never needed any maintenance services so I can't speak for their abilities but I imagine they are also great. I trust the management to hire qualified staff. Crickett has done a wonderful job cleaning the place up and making sure everything runs smoothly. The complex always looks clean and well kept. The walls are concrete so neighbor noise is hardly ever an issue. There are on site laundry facilities that can only be accessed with a key so you don't have to worry about people who don't live here hogging your facilities. The washers and dryers work on a card system so no one can steal the money. The card fill up station is located in the apartment office, which can be inconvenient but is much safer. No one can break into it and steal the money because it's locked up in the office. On Wednesdays laundry rates are only 50 cents! There is a monthly community newsletter and sometimes even community activities. There is plenty of parking, especially in the summer when most students leave town. A parking pass is required but you can easily acquire a guest pass for friends and family if needed. Unfortunately, no covered parking, but that's ok. The complex is across the street from a very shady strip of low income housing but that isn't the management's fault. I have yet to have any problems with the people living in that area. I feel pretty safe living here and am happy I chose Aspen Leaf Apartments as my current home.
This place is awesome! I would have to say the biggest plus here is the staff. Every time I have had any type of issue with my apartment, they have always taken care of it right away, and they are always so friendly. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone who wants to live near campus!
