Lakewood Village is a wonderful place to live. It has everything you need in an apartment community, beautiful landscaping, resort style pool, friendly neighbors and staff. The location is convenient to down town and it's a safe area. My family and I are happy to call this place home. We just renewed our lease for another year!
We fell in love with the apartment the minute we walked in and saw the view of the courtyard. It is lush, cared for and peaceful. The rooms are large and bright. We have had very little problem with the apartment's upkeep. The office personnel and maintenance crew has always responded quickly. Our water leak was dealt with and properly resolved timely. We have enjoyed the pool this summer. It is clean and not too much chlorine. The landscape is always kept and neat. Lakewood Apartments are the best kept secret in Jacksonville.
I lived at Lakewood Village for 2 years. At first, it was great. Anytime something needed fixed, it was taken care of fairly quickly. However, as time went on, I started liking the community less and less. First of all, it's extremely over priced for what they offer. The pool and courtyard look very nice from afar, but as you swim in the pool and hang around on the grounds, you'll notice the pool tables and chairs are rusty, broken, and very cheap and the pool is dirty too with rust or water stains at the bottom. My sliding screen door NEVER fit on my sliding back door, so although I had what seemed to be a very nice patio, I could never leave the sliding door open because lizards and other bugs would come in since the sliding screen door didn't fit! Parking became a nightmare and the community's way of fixing the problem was to start renting out parking spaces for an additional $20/month, which is ludicrous! Then to top it off, my lease has been up for nearly two and a half months and I'm still waiting for my deposit to be returned to me. I keep getting the run around about what's going on. I've asked to see a copy of the check, but have not. I've asked for the contact information for someone in corproate who can give me some answers and have not received anything. Apparently a check was sent to the wrong address and the company doesn't seem to be in any hurry to fix their wrongdoing and to get me my refund. What's funny is that one month in my 2 years of living there, my rent check was actually applied towards someone else's rent and the leasing manager was real quick to call me and collect my "late" rent and in doing so she realized that she had in fact applied my rent check to another tenant. It's amazing at how quickly they call their tenants to collect money from them, money that was already paid, but they are quite slow when returning security deposits. I'm extremely dissatisfied and would not recommend ANYONE moving into the Lakewood Village Apartments. The ONLY good thing I have to say about the 2 years that I lived there is that I was lucky to have 2 great neighbors.
New ownership cares more about money than the tenets to the the point of SINCUL GREED!!! Do not live their
