Love the chain and the service was great BUT, we stayed on the Club Lounge floor and each night there was a banging sound in the ceiling above the bathroom. Just enough to wake you up and ruin your night's sleep. Not sure if they run a water softener or what else it could of been.. Complained to the chain without even the courtesy of a response. Which after paying that much was a let down. I used to really like the Ritz Carlton, have stayed in Laguna Niguel, Phoenix, Denver, etc. but it seems have lost its luster.
First impression is always great! Front door staff was at the ready with smiling faces and open doors. We arrived way earlier than check in time but we were told our room was ready as they handed us the plate of hot towels that were awesome! The room was fantastic and had everything we could have possibly needed during our stay including the umbrella hanging in the closet. Bathroom was nicely stocked with amenities that you would have to request at other hotels. There was also a great Nespresso machine in the room! We were on the club level and the staff there was super helpful (Alex)! There is an extremely nice lounge area with great food and well stocked drinks that are available throughout the day. No need to find breakfast anywhere in the city with the great spread they provided! All in all we were extremely happy with our stay and would love to come back here! It will be very hard staying anywhere other than a Ritz Carlton!!
Not what is expected from the Ritz-Carlton. Nice lounge but very dated rooms which had many minor problems. Bathroom fan did not work. Old TV and very bad lighting with the exception of headboard lamps which had built in reading lamps. Very rude staff and very persistant with getting tipped. I don't mind tipping just not when u fish for it. Very turned off and the price for the room is a bit high for the quality.
Good and bad. Good: the Club Level but, of course, you pay for it. Club Level is very good with an unbelievably helpful and friendly staff. The concierges are amazing! They, as well as the Club Level staff, made the stay pleasant. If not for them, it would have been awful. Although I will also give credit to the valet staff. They are friendly, helpful and courteous. The front desk could learn how to be nice. Maybe it was a bad day but truly not impressed. Now for the bad: our room. I had booked online a double suite. Turns out there is no such thing. I ended with a suite but king bed and sofa bed fot my teen daughter. We made it work although I would have booked elsewhere if I knew especially at the price we were spending per night. The place needs to be remodeled! The rugs and drapes are worn and dirty. Light bulb was not working. Worse of all, when I booked online, I spend extra for a room with a view. There was not view except for the concrete wall surrounding the building. And to make things worse they were doing maintenance on it. I woke to men out my balcony working at about 7 am. The whole time my view was of paint buckets and concrete pilings. Not exactly what I'd call five star and luxury especially for the price I paid. I did a RC survey when I got home and told them what I experienced and it is three weeks later and I haven't heard a thing back. Not impressed with their service anymore. Not sure if it's just the San Fran one or all in general. I may reconsider where I stay next time.
Swanky Nob Hill hotel where the rich and famous stay! You don't have to be to stay here and you never know who might pull up at the valet! The lounge and restaurant are worth a visit if you're not staying. Top notch drinks and plates. Valet your car for just $10 with validation at the bar or restaurant and avoid the strenuous climb uphill from the nearby garages. My stay was in a single bedroom suite. Felt like I had my own small apartment in the heart of SF! A nicely appointed livingroom that included a queen size pullout bed, a huge master bedroom with a super comfy king size feather bed, a dressing room and two bathrooms (one half bath and one huge full master bath). One of my favorite things about staying at The Ritz is the staff. Housekeepers that greet you by name even when out wandering looking for ice! They really strive to make you feel at home! Yes, the rates are expensive but not really that much more than other top notch stays in downtown SF. Treat yourself to something special!
