DO NOT MOVE HERE!!!!! I broke my lease agreement early paying $2000 to just get out of there. Now I am being charged a lot of money for carpet damage that was absolutely their fault. Men were replacing tile as I was literally moving in - they were rushing to get out of there and left little plaster or chemical spots on the carpet. Gulfstream knew I was moving in that day. Why were men still repairing my tile in my unit in the first place??? This is just an example of the disorganization by the management. Anyway, I've been gone for months now and all of a sudden they claim I made those spots. It was found by the "carpet expert"
Ive been Living here for the past 7 months and its been Great!. I live more to the back side, it is very quiet, so far no major complaints. Just the landscaping needs a little more attention i guess. But other than that, Its been a good experience. Maintenance its on point! Does not matter what time it is they will be there. Had a little issue with my sliding doors but nothing major. I reccommend Gulfstream!. Staff is helpful and attentive to your needs.Hoping to stick around for longer than planned, but ofcourse! As long as it remains affordable for me.
**DO NOT SIGN THAT LEASE.** Move in day: My roommate and I come into our apartment. There are men working in our apartment. Pulling up the tile from the bathroom and putting in new. Great, no problem. These men were throwing the old tile covered in removal chemicals onto a small plastic tarp in the master bedroom. Meanwhile we are going through the apartment writing down anything that is broken etc. We sign the paper and give it to the front desk. (We'll come back to this.) So anyway moving on. Our lanai smelled terribly like feces and urine. Like couldn't even stand outside for a minute. We were located right by the dog park. Dogs would be barking until 2 A.M. then would start back up by 6 A.M. Much worse on the weekends too. You would walk into the bathroom during the night...flip on a light, and Cockroaches would scatter everywhere. Fruit flys...oh my the fruit flys. We ordered a washer and dryer to rent from a company they were affiliated with and they did not even fit in the closet on the lanai. So the washer and dryer were exposed outside to the elements, and looked like crap. Lastly the walls and floors are paper thin. You can hear EVERYTHING your surrounding neighbors are doing. So we decided that we had enough...within 2 months of living there. We paid the $2000 to break the lease and get the heck out of there. It's not over yet. Remember those men removing the tile out of the bathroom? Turns out those removal chemicals bleached the carpet in the bedroom. So a few weeks after moving out we get a bill for $700 to replace the carpet. Alright well lets call the front desk and explain the situation. NOPE. Didn't want to hear it. We are responsible for the carpet we did not destroy. We are the ones that suffer for their incompetence. Ya so obviously don't move here. We aren't the only ones to have plenty of issues...look at the terrible reviews.
I've lived here for 2 years BUT I can only say that it's a decent place to live if you have no alternative. I honestly LOVED my apartment of the first year. Unfortunately, the guy below me wakes me up every morning yelling "ugly ***** women", my neighbors below used to puke outside their front door (AKA my entry way) so that's just been laying there growing its own planet for the last 6 months. But it's ok. They dumped a giant pile of scented pine cones on it so that makes it better, right? When I first moved into my 3 bedroom place it was $925/mo. The next year it was $1100 - mind you, I got the notice of the leasing price AFTER the last possible date to cancel it without a hefty fee. Quick disclaimer: after year 1 the appliances break, the carpet falls apart, & no one actually maintains the landscaping (I mean, they do but JUST barely depending on how close to the main entrance your building is). It's nice in theory - until you come home one day and there is an abandoned plunger on one side of your door & a broken Swiffer on the other. In other words, a fantastic neighborhood if you don't intend to bring anyone home! Did I mention that they try to fine you to replace the carpet when you move out? Did I mention that they replace the carpet any time ANYONE moves out? Yeah. It's a scam.
I am so beyond annoyed with this complex. We pay almost $900 a month for a 730 sq ft apartment and we were promised "amenities" One being washers and dryers. They have two washer/dryer buildings for 900+ units, which is ridiculous in itself. One building has 6 washers, and one has 4 washers. Tell me why I tried to do my laundry on a Tuesday night and ALL 10 washers are BROKEN! I am beyond pissed, it's already inconvenient that we have to choose closet space over having a washer and dryer SINCE THERE IS NO CLOSET SPACE and that we have to get quarters, haul all our laundry down 3 flights, drive it over, deal with waiting, and other people, etc.. but we make it work. HOW CAN YOU HAVE ALL 10 out?! Cheers to hand washing my work clothes, THANKS GULFSTREAM ISLES nice to see all that money is being put towards promised "amenities" Move to a house if you can is my only advice.
